About The Role
Are you an experienced estimator looking for your next challenge? Thiess, one of the world's leading mining and construction companies, seeks a Principal Estimator to join our team based in Perth.
As Thiess’ Principal Estimator, you will be responsible for providing accurate and innovative cost services for new mining projects and tenders. The role will help improve the operational and financial effectiveness of Thiess Australia. The successful applicant will work closely with senior mining estimators and the broader team to ensure seamless project delivery.
To be successful in this role, you will have significant experience working at a large-scale open-cut operations and you systematically understand mining principles, design concepts, and procedures. Project or site experience coupled with a trade background or tertiary qualification in a relevant technical discipline (Engineering) is viewed favourably but not necessary. Your experience may have been attained with owner miners, OEMS, contractors or other relevant industries.
The role will provide seamless communication and collaboration and help to improve business processes. You have a solid track record dealing with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), dealers, supporting equipment suppliers, logistics companies, equipment hire companies, contractors, and consultants.
Your expertise in asset estimating, engineering, planning, finance, contracts, and administration, will help to uphold our partnerships beyond Thiess through to MACA, Rehabilitation and Fleetco.
You have a proactive and collaborative approach to improve service effectiveness and a basic understanding of accounting principles. You ideally have strong Microsoft Office suite skills and are proficient using JDE Asset Management (or equivalent) systems.

The Opportunity
A Level B academic is expected to make contributions to the teaching effort of the university and to carry out activities to maintain and develop her/his scholarly, research and/or professional activities relevant to the profession or discipline.

The Opportunity
You will work on a Monash University Malaysia-funded project, INTAKE24:Malaysia in a local multi-ethnic population. Intake24 is an open-source self-completed online dietary assessment system based on multiple-pass 24-hour recall. The project is a collaboration between Monash University Malaysia, Monash University Australia, and University of Cambridge.
First developed for Food Standards Scotland, and now used in the UK government's National Diet & Nutrition Survey and the Australian Bureau of Statistics' Intergenerational Health & Mental Health Survey, the system has been adapted for a number of other countries including; Portugal, Denmark and the United Arab Emirates. This project will adapt and validate the system for use in Malaysia.
The project will involve the integration of Malaysian foods linked with local food composition data and food portion size images, followed by large-scale testing of the system against interviewer-led 24hr recalls in the Malaysian population. You will play a leading role in the project, including the creation of a comprehensive dataset of foods and portion size images and linking these to food composition data. You will also co-supervise PhD students, and coordinate and assist in data collection, data checking and analysis, and preparation of publications for leading scientific venues.
This is both an exciting and career-defining opportunity for an ambitious post-doctoral researcher, and an opportunity to have a long-term impact on the health and wellbeing of Malaysian society.
Key Responsibilities
• Play a leading role in the three-year INTAKE24:Malaysia project, assisting the project's core team.
• Create a comprehensive dataset of foods and portion size images, and linking these to food composition data.
• Conduct original research, coordinating in data collection, data checking and data analysis.
• Develop an active record of publication and start to build a profile of grants and supervision of graduate students.
• Participate in collaborations with other universities and with government, industry and/or civil society to drive research impact and educational excellence.

The Opportunity
You will work on a Monash University Malaysia-funded project, INTAKE24:Malaysia in a local multi-ethnic population. Intake24 is an open-source self-completed online dietary assessment system based on multiple-pass 24-hour recall. The project is a collaboration between Monash University Malaysia, Monash University Australia, and University of Cambridge.
First developed for Food Standards Scotland, and now used in the UK government's National Diet & Nutrition Survey and the Australian Bureau of Statistics' Intergenerational Health & Mental Health Survey, the system has been adapted for a number of other countries including; Portugal, Denmark and the United Arab Emirates. This project will adapt and validate the system for use in Malaysia.
The project will involve the integration of Malaysian foods linked with local food composition data and food portion size images, followed by large-scale testing of the system against interviewer-led 24hr recalls in the Malaysian population. You will play a leading role in the project, including the creation of a comprehensive dataset of foods and portion size images and linking these to food composition data. You will also co-supervise PhD students, and coordinate and assist in data collection, data checking and analysis, and preparation of publications for leading scientific venues.
This is both an exciting and career-defining opportunity for an ambitious post-doctoral researcher, and an opportunity to have a long-term impact on the health and wellbeing of Malaysian society.
Key Responsibilities

The Opportunity
The Assistant Manager, Student Support, supports and contributes to the ongoing operations of the Student Support and Development services with the core areas of student advisory and support, risk assessment and incident management and student engagement activities. The position will work in collaboration with students, staff and other key stakeholders within the University and provide for effective student support services that are consistent with the University's policies and procedures and guidelines.
Reporting Line: The position reports to the Manager, Student Support who will provide general direction.
Key Responsibilities
Risk Assessment and Incident Management
1. Provide the appropriate support and handle student incidents with various stakeholders to de-escalate, contain the risks and resolve the cases.
2. Liaise closely with staff from Monash Security, Counselling Services, Education Management Offices and key internal and external stakeholders in the appropriate sharing of information and case management.
3. Maintain the online incident reporting system and administer the required data.
International Student Support (ISS)
1. Coordinate and facilitate the delivery of activities and programs, in collaboration with the Schools, student bodies and other units to enhance the international student experience.
2. Review, update and manage the website and social media content on a regular basis to provide timely updates and relevant information.
3. Conduct surveys, collate and analyse the data and work out plans for areas of improvement.
Student Support
1. Act as a liaison for students seeking advisory and support in the areas of student conduct, academic progress, University's policies and procedures and complaints.
2. Provide disability support services for students with disabilities and maintain the Disability Support database ensuring information is accurate and up-to-date.
3. Provide the required pastoral support in any of the University-wide events and programs.
4. Provide residential advisory and support where required.
Student Engagement
1. Manage and support the delivery of the PASS Program in collaboration with the school coordinators and PASS Leaders to ensure operational and delivery excellence.
2. Manage and coordinate Student Life or campus events and activities to increase the level of engagement among staff and students and enhance the student experience.

Education/Qualifications
A degree with relevant experience or an equivalent combination of extensive experience and/or education.

The Opportunity
We are looking for postdoctoral research fellows with research experience in the area of oil and fats processing, or microalgal biorefinery. Candidates with strong relevant experimental and analytical skills, as well as experience in process design and pilot plant operation are desirable. Candidate must be self-motivated, resourceful, and be able to manage a project under minimum supervision.
The successful candidates will join an active research group and manage the research activities of a project supported by industry. The position is initially for one year and may be extended. The position is available immediately and the applications will be reviewed as received.
Reporting Line: The position reports to the Project Leader
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct a specified research program under the supervision and direction of the Project Leader;
• Contribute to publishing high quality scholarly papers, if required;
• Support the preparation and development of proposals and progress reports for research funding;
• Mentor and assist, as appropriate and as directed, the graduate research students and final year undergraduate students associated with the research project;
• Support and co-manage the laboratory facilities to ensure they are operating effectively, sustainably and safely.
