We have one (1) exciting opportunity for a Library Technician III to serve our San Jacinto, CA campus. Under the general direction of the Administrator overseeing Library Services, the Library Technician III is responsible for all components of circulation services, including directing the functions of the circulation desk and the circulation module of the automated library system and training and leading lower level staff. The Library Technician III may also oversee and participate in Technical Services processes related to Acquisitions and Cataloging.

• Schedule, maintain and trouble-shoot circulation functions within the automated library system
• Act as liaison with automated library software vendor to resolve circulation module problems
• Train, schedule and assign tasks for lower level staff
• Oversee the creation of over-dues and billings of library materials
• Oversee the placement and release of financial obligation holds
• Resolve conflicts with students and faculty members
• Reconcile and deposit fine monies
• Exhibit comprehensive knowledge of circulation procedures
• Submit purchase requisitions for circulation supplies
• Coordinate and create policies for the operation of the reserve materials collection
• Train faculty in the use of online reserve functions
• Maintain library statistics and prepares reports accordingly
• Oversee the automated inventory of library materials
• Evaluate and request content modifications on library website
• Assist students in the use of the Library, including print and electronic reference sources
• Attend workshops, conferences, seminars, etc. to maintain currency in the field
• Oversee and participate in the fulfillment of interlibrary loan requests, and assist in developing interlibrary loan policies and procedures.
• Oversee the check in and maintenance of the print periodical collection
• Coordinate maintenance and repairs of library equipment
• Participate in the acquisition of library materials under the guidance of professional librarians
• Coordinate the processing of new library materials for insertion into the library collection
• Oversee shipping of library materials and supplies
• Coordinate completion of cataloging tasks performed by lower level staff

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Three (3) years of college-level coursework (attach transcript); AND
• Three (3) years of progressively responsible, professional experience in sub-professional library work; INCLUDING
• Two (2) years of lead experience in circulation, pre-cataloging, or simple cataloging
• Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.
SUBSTITUTIONS
Substitutions for meeting the minimum qualifications are allowed, as follows:
• College-level coursework in a related field may be substituted for the professional experience on the basis of nine (9) semester units for one year of experience up to a maximum of one (1) year
• Additional specialized experience that will demonstrate that the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge shown above may be substituted for the education requirement on a year for year basis up to a maximum of one (1) year
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Initial salary placement for this position is from Step 1 to Step 3 depending on the amount of reasonably related experience. The job is a Classified position, Level 17, working full time, 40 hours per week, 12 months. The position serves District-Wide; applicants may be assigned to any district facility. The current work schedule is Monday - Thursday 7:30 am - 4:30 pm and Friday 8:00 am - 12:00 pm. Work hours are subject to change depending on department needs.

SCHEDULE
Typical schedule for the position will be Monday-Thursday 9:00 am – 3:30 pm (24 hours per week max). The position will work up to 48 weeks per year ( see the MSJC Academic Calendar) as a Professional Expert Contract. Contracts run 12 months from July 1 – June 30th and is a non-benefited position. Contract renewal possible each year dependent on performance evaluations.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general supervision from the Dean, Student Health Services. Exercises no supervision of staff. Duties and responsibilities are carried out with considerable independence within the framework of established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
This class responsible for performing nursing care for patients. Work requires strong communications skills and knowledge of available community resources. Incumbents perform the full range of duties as assigned, working independently, and exercising judgment and initiative. Incumbents at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of assigned area of responsibility. This classification is distinguished from other Student Health Services classifications by the requirement of an appropriate professional license, as well as relevant clinical experience.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Illustrative Only)
• Plans, organizes, and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the Student Health Center; assists in developing and revising policies, procedures, orientation materials and materials for Health Services programs, activities and employees; collaborates with District clinicians to provide relevant medical and psychological services.
• Provides nursing care; collaborates with District clinicians to develop therapeutic plans and resolve health issues, problems and illnesses as appropriate.
• Follows the Nursing Process: conducts assessments of patients including case histories, vital signs, visual acuity, mental status, etc.; documents related information.
• Responds to emergencies, provides first aid, and takes appropriate actions according to established protocols.
• Assesses walk-in patients and identifies and implements appropriate plan of care including the need for first aid, scheduling appointments, urgent care, or 911 services.

Education and Experience:

An Associate’s Degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college and a minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience required; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college, experience in college health, urgent care or emergency services preferable.
Licenses and Certifications:

Under general supervision, plans, organizes, and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the Student Health Services department; provides clinical nursing care; trains and provides work direction to clinical personnel as assigned; assists the Dean, Student Health Services in planning and organizing clinical operations, information, and instructions, including health promotion.

SCHEDULE
Typical schedule for the position will be Monday-Thursday 9:00 am – 3:30 pm (24 hours per week max). The position will work up to 48 weeks per year ( see the MSJC Academic Calendar) as a Professional Expert Contract. Contracts run 12 months from July 1 – June 30th and is a non-benefited position. Contract renewal possible each year dependent on performance evaluations.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general supervision from the Dean, Student Health Services. Exercises no supervision of staff. Duties and responsibilities are carried out with considerable independence within the framework of established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
This class responsible for performing nursing care for patients. Work requires strong communications skills and knowledge of available community resources. Incumbents perform the full range of duties as assigned, working independently, and exercising judgment and initiative. Incumbents at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of assigned area of responsibility. This classification is distinguished from other Student Health Services classifications by the requirement of an appropriate professional license, as well as relevant clinical experience.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Illustrative Only)
• Plans, organizes, and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the Student Health Center; assists in developing and revising policies, procedures, orientation materials and materials for Health Services programs, activities and employees; collaborates with District clinicians to provide relevant medical and psychological services.
• Provides nursing care; collaborates with District clinicians to develop therapeutic plans and resolve health issues, problems and illnesses as appropriate.
• Follows the Nursing Process: conducts assessments of patients including case histories, vital signs, visual acuity, mental status, etc.; documents related information.

• Utilizes phlebotomy skills in the collection and preservation of lab specimens; reconciles and maintains records concerning specimens, related results, and follow-up activities.
• Serves as a technical resource to personnel, patients, and others concerning nursing functions, activities and related services; responds to inquiries, resolves issues and conflicts, and provides information concerning related laws, rules, regulations, practices, and procedures.
• Prepares and maintains a variety of records, reports, and files related to clinical activities, examinations, assessments, and assigned activities; prepares and maintains cumulative health records.
• Communicates with patients, personnel, and a variety of outside agencies to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns as allowed by laws governing the release of medical information.
• Operates a variety of medical instruments and equipment including thermometers, stethoscopes, lab instruments, Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and screening devices; drives a vehicle to conduct work.

Education and Experience:

An Associate’s Degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college and a minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience required; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college, experience in college health, urgent care or emergency services preferable.
Licenses and Certifications:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Temporary English Instructor located at our campus in San Jacinto, CA. Mt. San Jacinto Community College District seeks an English Instructor to teach and develop courses in English. The ideal candidate is student-oriented in their approach and dedicated to student success. San Jacinto Community College District seeks an English Instructor to teach and develop courses in English. The ideal candidate is student-oriented in their approach and dedicated to student success. Initial placement on the salary schedule will be commensurate with education and experience, not to exceed step five (5) on the assigned salary schedule. Step five (5) may be exceeded if the District determines an extraordinary need or circumstance warrants a higher placement.
This is a full-time temporary academic position. While this current vacancy is expected at the San Jacinto Campus, applicants may be assigned to any District facility.
