The role has responsibility for the overall technical design, sustainability, and future flexibility of the NASCAR’s infrastructure at Track and Venues. The Principal Event Network Engineer has many duties to perform as part of their role. These include evaluating new technologies; designing new technology solutions and integrating legacy assets; ensuring infrastructure is scalable, reliable, and secure; planning for future projects, ensuring business requirements translate to IT deliverables and in general ensuring the foundation of their design is sound and supportable for current and future needs. This role also requires to be hands-on in day-to-day technology operations at NASCAR owned Venues ensuring all technology is healthy and available for NASCAR events and other events, including providing technical support to onsite staff. Essential Duties and Responsibilities This position will be responsible for testing, setup, configuration, and integration of multiple vendor products into NASCAR's networks which are utilized by NASCAR Teams and OEM partners. Troubleshoot and analyze transport, networking, systems, and software configurations. Act as highest-level escalation point for customer issues within the trackside client networks. Has ability to transfer knowledge to division and field engineering personnel as necessary to insure the timely deployment of new technology. The individual will also support vendors with product and service requirements based on customer requests. The position requires strong technical skills working knowledge of the Venue technologies. Specifications including the following technologies: Experience and Certifications Requires 5+ years of experience with infrastructure technology support in a large enterprise environment. Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Experience Required Technical Skillsets – Competent with Network, Systems, Cloud, Virtualization and Voice operations Capable of performing onsite Event Support and Engineering Experience in all major infrastructure manufactured products, but not limited to, Cisco, Juniper, Ubiquiti, Extreme, Microsoft. Experience with Wireless networking and troubleshooting. Extensive experience in networking technologies Experience in network management tools Candidate must be flexible and able to work in design and project implementation support. QAM and Multicast Video IPv4, IPv6 Understanding and troubleshooting of fiber infrastructure. Experience with implementation of software-based solutions deployed on IT/commodity hardware running on various platforms (e.g. Linux, Windows, Serverless). Expert knowledge of I.T & networking protocols (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, HTTP, SNMP, TFTP) Other emerging technologies Computer Skills Proficient in Windows and Mac Hardware and Software installation and troubleshooting and repair. • Current AHA (or equivalent) BLS certification.
• Current AJA (or equivalent) ACLS certification.

This is a field-based position but the successful candidates will live within a reasonable driving distance to the NASCAR Transportation Center in Conover, NC. This position requires a professional transport (truck) driver to drive a NASCAR transporter (with trailer) to and from events and/or fly to and from events. In addition to professional truck driving duties, this position is also responsible for set-up and teardown of equipment utilized throughout the event week/weekend as well as maintaining all equipment in a functional and professional appearing manner. Duties include but are not limited to: Drive transporter, often on an interstate basis, for all required events. Must be able to drive to events as prescribed while maintaining all Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements necessary to operate a transporter (i.e., Commercial Driver’s License, testing, drive time regulations, etc.) Truck and trailer loading and unloading; setting up and breaking down of awnings, tech equipment, and any equipment as needed. Truck and trailer scheduling and minor maintenance. Work to support all weekend officials by maintaining equipment and supplies; staff any NASCAR trailers as needed. Responsible for equipment maintenance and care including cleaning, restocking, and upkeep. Prepare truck logs, complete timecards, and fuel reports after all trips. After performing set-up duties at the race event, will also be asked to perform other tasks to help augment other staffing needs around other departments. Required to operate forklifts and supporting equipment. Periodically work at the NASCAR transportation center in Conover, NC on off-event days. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. Approximate travel required: 90% including weekends. Required skills and experience: One (1) year certificate from college or technical school and/or five (5) years of truck driving and at-race track service experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of one (1) year of forklift operation experience is a plus. Proficient on Company provided hardware and software. The Principal Event Network Engineer role is a highly technical role for the Event Technology organization. The role has responsibility for the overall technical design, sustainability, and future flexibility of the NASCAR’s infrastructure at Track and Venues. The Principal Event Network Engineer has many duties to perform as part of their role. These include evaluating new technologies; designing new technology solutions and integrating legacy assets; ensuring infrastructure is scalable, reliable, and secure; planning for future projects, ensuring business requirements translate to IT deliverables and in general ensuring the foundation of their design is sound and supportable for current and future needs. This role also requires to be hands-on in day-to-day technology operations at NASCAR owned Venues ensuring all technology is healthy and available for NASCAR events and other events, including providing technical support to onsite staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for testing, setup, configuration, and integration of multiple vendor products into NASCAR's networks which are utilized by NASCAR Teams and OEM partners.

Troubleshoot and analyze transport, networking, systems, and software configurations.

Act as highest-level escalation point for customer issues within the trackside client networks.

Has ability to transfer knowledge to division and field engineering personnel as necessary to insure the timely deployment of new technology.

The individual will also support vendors with product and service requirements based on customer requests. The position requires strong technical skills working knowledge of the Venue technologies.

• Requires 5+ years of experience with infrastructure technology support in a large enterprise environment.

Percent of Travel required: 80% including weekends.

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and a minimum of five (5) years related experience.
