The Bikoff lab (https://www.stjude.org/research/labs/bikoff-lab.html) is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher interested in studying neural circuitry in mice...
The fundamental goal of our research is to understand how neural circuits control movement. We approach this from multiple perspectives, using cutting-edge technologies to analyze the molecular diversity of spinal interneurons, explore how descending systems in the brain convey information to the spinal motor system, and define the functional roles of spinal interneurons in generating behavior.
Current projects in the lab are highly multidisciplinary, providing candidates with the opportunity to gain extensive training in viral tracing, optogenetics and electrophysiology, whole-brain imaging, single-cell transcriptomics, and quantitative approaches to behavior. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds that would thrive in a highly collaborative, fun, and supportive environment that provides the freedom to independently develop a research project.
The Bikoff lab is strongly committed to providing individual mentoring and training, as well as ongoing support at all stages of career development. At St. Jude, we know what can be achieved when the brightest scientific minds face the fewest barriers.

We are currently seeking an innovative, inventive and self-driven Postdoctoral Associate within the lab of Dr. Michelle Wang at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. The Wang lab operates where physics and biology intersect – pioneering single molecule techniques to investigate fundamental biological processes that impact DNA. More information about the lab, and links to publications, can be found on... their website. To foster a diverse, collaborative research setting, we consider candidates from a broad range of backgrounds including single molecule biophysics, biochemistry, chemistry, molecular biology, nanofabrication, and instrumentation. Postdoctoral Associates will undertake creative and rigorous research including in vitro and in vivo approaches to investigate DNA-based biological processes that allow novel, high resolution insights into the molecular mechanics of the cell. This role is perfect for you if you are looking to do groundbreaking science in a new area within an established and well-respected lab. We are hoping to find someone who is incredibly motivated, self-directed, and passionate about pushing the bounds of what we know of science.General Qualifications:
PhD. in physics, applied physics, engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology or a related field.
Familiarity with data analysis packages a strong plus
Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative group environment.
Effective communication skills, self-motivated, and a strong work ethic.
Applicants should submit both their curriculum vitae and a detailed statement on how their experience and interests relate to our work.Physical RequirementsRemaining in a normal seated or standing position for extended periods of time; reaching and grasping by extending hand(s) or arm(s); dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers, for example using a keyboard; communication skills using the spoken word; ability to see and hear within normal parameters; ability to move about workspace. The position requires mobility, including the ability to move materials weighing up to several pounds (such as a laptop computer or tablet). Work may involve possible exposure to standard molecular biology hazards, including malodorous vapors, contamination by toxic chemicals and acids and presence of carcinogenic substances. Persons with disabilities may be able to perform the essential duties of this position with reasonable accommodation. Requests for reasonable accommodation will be evaluated on an individual basis. Please Note:This job description sets forth the job’s principal duties, responsibilities, and requirements; it should not be construed as an exhaustive statement, however.
