WMAQ-TV, NBC Chicago has an opportunity for an ENG News field photographer to join our award-winning broadcast and News operations.
Job Duties:
The field photographer will work closely with News Management, On-Air Talent and other Broadcast Operations personnel to gather high-quality and informative news stories with integrity and facts. Field photographers also work on other station projects as assigned.
Qualifications
• Must join the NABET union if not a current member
• Minimum 2 years of experience in News camera/field photography in mid to major market
• Must be fully knowledgeable in all aspects of ENG field operations
• Must be proficient working with both Adobe Premier and Dalet systems
• Must be able to operate a microwave/satellite news truck
• Must have proficiencies in new technologies such as Cloud uploading of video, LiveU, Dejero, ASI conversion, fiber boxes and wireless cameras
• Must be able to work weekends, longer hours or varying shifts when necessary to meet production and broadcast deadlines
• Job requires the ability to perform well outside in all kinds of weather and with a high degree of self-sufficiency

Job Duties:
• Coordinate reporters, field photographers and other personnel covering assigned News stories.
• Set up and coordinate live remotes, News stories and series planning working closely with Producers and other News team members and management.
• Develop relationships and work with business partners from external News sources to gather reliable and factual information for News story content.

Essential Functions (Responsibilities) :
• Responsible for overall editorial content on all platforms produced by WMAQ, NBC Chicago, including but not limited to Out-of-Home, web, and on-air broadcast.
• The Daypart News Manager will oversee the platform managers and the pool of content producers creating content for all platforms.
• Collaborates with other newsroom managers, and all divisions of NBC Local, for special events planning as well as day-to-day coverage.
• Will work with all facets of the organization, including Production, IT, Creative Services and Broadcast Operations and the newsroom to ensure the most accurate and compelling local coverage.
• Responsible for tracking coverage-related costs and ensuring fiscal responsibility in the news department.
• Responsible for scheduling content producers and platform managers to ensure proper coverage.
• Responsible for writing and delivering performance reviews for platform managers and content producers
• Responsible for hiring quality talent when needed, as well as coaching and mentoring current employees.
• Will be part of an on-call rotation of manager to provide oversight of weekend morning and evening newscasts.
Qualifications
Qualifications / Requirements :
• Minimum 3 years of experience in newsroom management or supervisory role
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience

• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and any shift as assigned
