We are currently seeking permanent full-time Health Care Technician I (CNA) for our Geriatric Admissions Unit, our Medical Psychiatric Unit, our Adolescent Unit, our Adult Acute Admissions Unit (AAU), and our Independent Transition Unit (ITU) on all three shifts. There are openings on all three shifts: 7am – 3:30pm, 3P-11:30pm, & 11P-7:30am.

-The Geriatric Admissions Unit provides treatment for patients 60 years and older. While most of the patients in the unit have confusion and/or disorientation associated with dementia, there are others with persistent mental illness. Although patients are usually ambulatory, many suffer from age-related physical illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, arthritis or cardiovascular disease. Most require some assistance with their basic needs. The objective of the unit is re-motivation, reorientation, and rehabilitation of patients in an effort to return them to their community and families.

-The Medical Psychiatric Unit (MPU) is a unit for the treatment of psychiatric patients with physical illness who cannot be managed on a general psychiatric unit due to the nature and severity of the medical illness. Patients are admitted to this unit from other hospital units. The primary goal of the MPU is the stabilization and treatment of the patient experiencing an acute medical. The primary focus of this position includes, but is not limited to providing active programming and ensuring safety of our patients, which is driven by individual patients’ treatment plans.

-The Adolescent Unit is a 22-bed unit which serves individuals from the age of 12-17 admitted to the hospital. The objective of the adolescent unit is multidisciplinary crisis stabilization, focusing on various psychiatric illness and behavioral challenges.

-The Adult Acute Admissions Units consist of three patient care units, two male and one female. This unit’s objective is for adult multidisciplinary crisis stabilization, with a focus on various psychiatric illness and behavioral changes. Patients transition from the AAU to the Independent Transition Unit (ITU).

- Our Independent Transition Units (ITU) consist of four adult patient care units, three male and one female. Patients transition from the Admissions Units to the ITU with goals to achieve a life beyond inpatient hospitalization and transition back into the community.

The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to both Alzheimer's and Developmentally Disabled populations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Identifying and assessing residents needs/nursing/health needs.
• Administering medications as directed by physicians.
• Working closely with the medical staff to provide quality medical care.
• Serving as "charge nurse" - overseeing daily nursing care, consisting of coordinating all licensed and non-licensed staff duties in accordance with Board of Nursing delegation and responsibilities.

The Registered Nurse is an integral part of the nursing team, which serves to provide an interdisciplinary approach to the care planning process of our residents.

THIS POSITION IS DESIGNATED MANDATORY AND MUST REPORT OR STAY OVER DURING ADVERSE WEATHER EVENTS OR OTHER EMERGENCIES.

RN licensure in North Carolina, Compact State licensure, or pending licensure after graduation from a nursing program is required.

We are accepting "graduate" temporary permits! Since testing centers for NCLEX are temporarily closed, NCBON has re-instituted the "Graduate Nurse" status for NC graduates. See Minimum Education and Experience Requirements section below for more details.

Shift preferences will be discussed in the interview and will depend on staffing needs. In addition to our traditional work schedules listed below, flexible schedules may be available.

1st shift (days) 6:45 AM – 3:15 PM

2nd shift (evenings) 2:45 PM – 11:15 PM

3rd shift (nights) 10:45 PM – 7:15 AM

Work schedules include weekend and holiday rotations. We offer 20% shift premium pay for 2nd and 3rd shift hours and 5% shift premium pay for hours worked on the weekends. For training/education purposes and to meet facility needs, flexibility is required.

Per G.S. 126-5 (c1) (37), this position is Exempt from all provisions of NC General Statute Chapter 126 (State Human Resources Act) with the exception of Articles 6 and 7.
