The Senior Executive Service (SES) covers managerial positions above GS-15 in the Federal Service. Career appointees are eligible for bonuses based on performance in addition to base pay. Veterans’ preference does not apply and there are no grade restrictions. New appointees to the SES are required to serve a one-year probationary period. Final selection of career appointees requires the approval of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). OPM approval will be based on the selectee's background in the following 5 executive core qualification (ECQ) areas: (1) Leading Change, (2) Leading People, (3) Results Driven Leadership, (4) Business Acumen, and (5) Building Coalitions/Communication. Responsibilities

Working in Special Collections -

Helping participants with their research tasks in Special Collections, working with other SC Staff: workers will gather requested materials, shelve materials no longer needed, complete small reference inquiries. Abide by professional standards, esp. regarding security. Note preservation and conservation issues.

Helping with Residence Hall Life -
Preparing residence hall before NEHSI begins; assisting participants with daily needs for life in residence call, including transportation; cleanup after NEHSI ends.

Assisting Directors and Staff -
Helping with web content, needs of seminars, food service, web content, dissemination of results of the NEHSI, evening and weekend events, emergencies.

Providing Transportation -
Driving participants to and from Groome Shuttle office in Macon, providing transportation for seminar leaders from lodging to and from weekday meetings, providing transportation to participants as needed for errands. Assistants will receive required training.

Educational Requirements
High School diploma

Friendly, engaging and focused

Required Experience
Formal association with GCSU

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Best practices in customer service, organization, prioritization, teamwork

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Familiarity with Flannery O'Connor preferred

Preferred Experience
Familiarity with Milledgeville preferred, experience working in a library or archive preferred

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES
Driving (after appropriate required training)

SKILLS
Need to be able to effectively use a phone and computer. Also: Understanding how to search library and archival materials, how to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
