Mastercard is looking for a commercial and technology lawyer to support the Network Solutions organization within the C&I global product team. The role will provide the primary legal support to the Global Network Solutions group, focusing on network connectivity, services delivery, private label, and related programs.

Role:
• Provide support to the C&I regional and product teams globally to support product development, sales, partnerships, and related initiatives.
• Provide practical high quality advice to the business on a broad range of commercial, transactional, and contractual matters.
• Structure, draft and negotiate complex technology services, license, partnership, reseller, gateway and other agreements.
• Manage contractual negotiations with networks, suppliers, partners, vendors, merchants, financial institutions, and other entities in the payment ecosystem.
• Counsel and advise internal clients on local laws, government regulations and directives affecting network connectivity and related issues.
• Act as product counsel and become an integral part of the business/product development team, supporting ideation and advising clients from the creation through development to the launch stage of network solutions services.
• Identify and advise on intellectual property, finance, regulatory and data privacy product risks, with support of Mastercard's subject matter experts and counsel.
• Provide legal and business risk assessments and analyses on matters from new product constructs to enhancements to commercial agreements.
• Anticipate and proactively address regulatory and other challenges to next-generation network connectivity models.
• Take ownership of special projects while continuing to handle a high volume of day-to-day transactional matters.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Effectively manage external counsel within agreed policy and budget.
• Develop strong relationships with product development, business, sales, and senior management within the company.
• Provide applicable training to the regional Law & Franchise Integrity, sales and product teams.

All About You:
• Qualified lawyer with a solid academic and training background.
• Extensive legal and transactional experience, preferably including law firm and in-house experience.
• Experience in technology, security, network solutions, or payments processing is a distinct advantage.
• Strong business acumen and a genuine interest in technology.
• Strong drafting and negotiating skills across a range of complex commercial contracts and the ability to analyze and identify core legal issues.
• Fast learner who can quickly "connect the dots" and gain rapid familiarity with complex and evolving products and solutions.
• Exposure to a broad range of global transactional, commercial and technology law issues.
• Comfort with ambiguity, a willingness to explore gray areas and develop practical, risk-based solutions for first impression issues.

How You Will Contribute:

Reporting to the Senior manager, Solutions Engineering, as a Network Solution Engineer (Systems/MCP), you will be responsible for the planning, implementation and execution for installation of Ciena's Manage, Control and Plan (MCP) platform. You’ll work in partnership with Sales Engineering, Account teams and the customer to ensure the lifecycle of customer's MCP engagement is completed from conception to final solution.
• You will develop test plans for customer network architecture and interoperability, ensuring the functionality and security of equipment and determining efficient equipment configurations suitable for customers and stakeholder requirements.
• You will prepare implementation plans based on the results of testing and provide expert engineering support in the deployment of the proposed improvements and modifications
• You will assist the customer with troubleshooting, installation and implementation with dedicated servers and MCP itself, remotely or in restricted, secure environment.
• You will provide weekly updates to varying internal and external contract team members, including Ciena PM’s and Engineers.
