About The Role

Engineers at NewRetirement create and maintain web applications, business logic and related APIs. They are also responsible for managing application data, servers and infrastructure.

Most engineers will have the opportunity to work directly with clients to scope requirements, and provide technical support as needed. They will interact regularly with the QA, Product, Services and Enterprise Success teams. We are a small company and encourage cross-functional collaboration, while allowing everyone to contribute according to their strengths.

What you'll be doing:
• Writing and taking ownership of code in order to enhance our users' experience
• Participating in technical design and architectural decisions
• Writing unit/integration tests
• Other tasks within the software development lifecycle like reviewing code, providing estimates, scoping features, monitoring applications and fixing bugs

What you bring:
• 7+ years of shipping code into production as part of a high performing team
• Rigorous software development standards and strong attention to detail
• Initiative, self-motivation and a love of solving problems
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical colleagues
• Experience with React and Ruby on Rails

About The Role

We’re looking to bring on an engineering manager to our growing team. As the engineering manager you will have a large influence on our team’s ability to deliver new capabilities to our enthusiastic users.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will be:
• Oversee delivery of engineering projects
• Help plan and manage our bi-weekly sprints, possibly including leading standup meetings and retros
• Manage, support, and mentor team of remote engineers
• Collaborate with Product and Services to ensure specifications and designs are complete
• Improve team software development practices and optimize engineering team velocity
• Perform code and quality reviews
