JOB GOAL: To help students with disabilities achieve personal fulfillment by providing them guidance and counseling services to enable students to create their own personal, educational, and occupational transition plans.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Assists students in evaluating their aptitudes and abilities through a systematic transition from school to employment or school to college by identifying needs, interests, and preferenc.
• Develops appropriate job sites and works with the students and staff at AHM in scheduling student placements.
• Serves as liaison between the school and students' places of employment by monitoring their job performance and assisting in their job retention.
• Review and coordinate any transportation needs through the Special Services Department.
• Train teachers in the development of individualized transition plans and work closely with parents and students in the development of these plans.
• Attend conferences with parents/guardians, Child Study Team members and instructional staff, as necessary, to review and update students' transitional goals, objectives and activities.
• Maintain an up-to-date manual covering all school-to-career transition procedures and activities. Establish working relationships with post-secondary support agencies and service providers to facilitate transition planning. Develop and submit monthly reports to the Administration documenting student progress and program outcomes.
• Participate in professional improvement programs and activities as requested by the Administration.
• Maintain up-to-date student transition portfolios.
• Work with teachers, administrators, and other professional staff members by providing information and assistance that will be beneficial to students' overall growth and development.
• Assist staff in the resolution of school related issues and problems pertaining to students.
• Develop and teach a self-advocacy curriculum.
• Provide a transition orientation program for students with disabilities from middle to high school, which may include orientation programs for students, parents, and staff.
• Keep the staff and community informed about the transition program.
• RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction of the A. Harry Moore administration, provide services to students with multiple disabilities ages 3-21 including:
• Assesses a student in terms of personal and family history, social-economic and cultural differences.
• Develops and maintains appropriate written reports and records.
• Responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating transition education and services at the school and system level
• Participates on a multi-disciplinary team, and consults with a student's team regarding clinical issues, sharing pertinent information to foster each student's social-emotional growth.
• Maintains an ongoing relationship with student families for the purpose of assisting the family in utilizing appropriate community resources; assisting the family with transition planning, applying for guardianship, and assisting the family and/or students to facilitate social adjustment.
• Initiates, facilitates and maintains liaison with community agencies and other resources to meet special needs. Refers parents and child to agencies when appropriate.
• May counsel students in individual or small group sessions.
• Strives to maintain and improve professional competence and to keep abreast of latest professional practices/methods in Special Education.
• Observes pupils in classrooms, school activities, and/or related service sessions, as appropriate.
• Attends and participates in meetings as deemed necessary.
• Assumes other related duties/assignments during the assigned working day, as the administration deems necessary.
• Serve as a resource and/or mentor to other professionals, college students and parents.
• Adhere to the policy and procedures of A. Harry Moore School and the NJ Department of Education.
• LICENSE: Valid N.J. Educational Services Certificate (School Counselor and/or School Social Worker Endorsement). Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
• Demonstrated knowledge of laws and regulations governing special education
• Effective problem-solving, human relations and communication skills
• Successful experience working with families and community health and social services agencies (desired)
• Knowledge of computerized master schedule development desirable.

Description: The GEAR UP program is an academic and college preparatory program designed to help strengthen our students by providing academic support and college preparation activities to middle school and high school students. Under the direction of the Director, Assistant Director and Curriculum Specialist, the Instructor will assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of the curriculum by identifying student learning outcomes, planning, organizing and presenting meaningful instruction for the Gear Up participants in the academic programs during the GEAR UP Saturday Academy and/or Summer Academy.

This is a part-time, hourly position that is limited to working no more than 30 hours per week. It is an in-person, on campus, non-remote position, unless otherwise noted. Screening of applications begins immediately and will continue until positions are filled.

Candidates can apply to be a GEAR UP Instructor for one of the following components: (The ideal candidate would be committed to both the Saturday Academy and the Summer Academy.)

The program operates year-round during the Academic Year (Fall and Spring) and Summer sessions (July to August).
• Saturday Academy (September-May)
• Minimum of 20 Saturdays (approx. 10 Saturdays per semester) at NJCU campus. Instructors are expected to attend all Saturday Academy sessions (tentatively scheduled for 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.).
• Summer Academy (at least six weeks, July-August)
• Instructors are expected to be present every day of the Summer Academy (tentatively scheduled for Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.; Fridays as needed)

Example of Duties:

1. Provides meaningful and planned instruction to participants during the GEAR UP Saturday Academy and/or Summer Academy.

2. Prepares and submits enriching lesson plans prior to instruction with a focus on project-based learning.

3. Assists participants and program staff to establish and maintain acceptable classroom behavior and standards.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Teaching certificate(s) and/or Bachelor’s degree in education preferred.

SUMMARY: New Jersey City University is searching for a Budget Director. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Budget Director is responsible for managing the Budget for the University. In addition, due to interdependencies with other departments and across units within Administration and Finance, the Budget Director will serve as a lead business partner in guiding inter-departmental efforts that include but are not limited to the position control system, procurement processes, bursar functions, and risk management. The Budget Director is responsible for the overseeing the financial health of the university. Inclusive of monitoring the performance of individual departments to ensure they’re meeting their goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepare and monitor the operating & capital budget.
• Supervise subordinate staff in the preparation of the salary and non-salary operating budgets and with the daily and monthly analyses and reconciliations of expenditures.
• Review and reconcile operating and project expenditures to ensure proper classification and adherence to standards.
• Assist with execution of drawdown of bond proceeds, as well as other funding from external sources, including maintenance of detailed drawdown analysis of trust cash by project.
• Update and maintain quarterly operation report for review by the Finance, Audit & Planning committee meetings and other University managers.
• Complete the analysis of reports for quarterly communication and Board of Trustees Meetings.
• Assist with the monitoring of commitment control exceptions generated by the PeopleSoft System and correct errors needed, as well as the daily maintenance and correction of budget errors for all financial system transactions.
• Review financial expenditures for correct classification and budgetary oversight.
• Manage position control to ensure alignment between the HR & Financial systems
• Developing a strategic plan for achieving organizational goals and objectives by identifying opportunities for cost savings or increased revenues
• Reviewing financial statements, reports, and budgets prepared by other departments in the organization
• Preparing forecasts of future cash flow requirements and identifying ways to meet those needs
• Monitoring departmental performance to ensure that it meets or exceeds organizational goals
• Maintaining relationships with creditors and vendors to ensure that bills are paid on time
• Overseeing the preparation of an organization’s annual budget, including reviewing revenue forecasts and expense estimates to determine whether they are realistic
• Coordinating with other members of management to ensure appropriate follow through on decisions made during meetings
• Providing leadership to ensure that departmental goals are met within budget constraints
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIO N : Graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance is required. Master’s degree Preferred

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 5 years accounting or finance experience and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and/or nonprofit organizations is desirable.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Above average knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including data analysis functions and macro creation and execution, or other spreadsheet software to analyze data, draw conclusions and generate reports.
• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and ability to apply to execution of daily work.
• Demonstrated experience in budget planning, development, and administration.
• Ability to research, comprehend and act on rules governing accounting standards and to apply knowledge across multiple projects
• Ability to enlist knowledge of the budgeting procedures and accounting principles to assist in the planning and administration of policies and procedures for the budget function.
• Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information to ensure compliance with university guidelines.
• Ability to prepare clear, concise, and effective business correspondences. Ability to work independently and complete ad-hoc projects as assigned by the CFO.
• Through understanding and working knowledge of Oracle’s PeopleSoft and Financials system.
• Expert proficiency with Excel and/or other spreadsheet and database applications
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and with people at all levels in the University
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• High degree of discretion and demonstrated ability to handle and maintain confidential information.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develops and implements protocols for managing campus facilities.

• Develop and upgrade long range planning documents regarding maintenance and construction needs of the campus.

• Assess and formulate recommendations to improve the safety of the campus for staff and students.
• Oversee the management of construction projects and provide technical constructions advice and assistance.
• Maintains department operating budgets, ensures compliance with budgetary constraints, and determines opportunities for efficiencies.
• O versee the campus facilities work order system, status of work orders, and the communication and follow up with the appropriate requestors.
• Create and manage a successful preventive maintenance program.
• Provide consultation and collaboration with various campus departments in order to maximize effectiveness and enhance customer service while minimizing disruption to the campus environment.
• Act as a liaison between users of facilities, supervisors, physical plant personnel, trades people construction contractors and subcontractors.
• Establish and monitor standards for construction and operations of buildings.
• Management of renovation and repair of campus and operations of buildings system and preventative maintenance program.
• Provides leadership in space and sustainability planning.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: minimum of a Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture or equivalent from an accredited college, or university is required. Equivalent experience considered. Master's degree is preferred.

EXPERIENCE: at least 8 years of experience in capital facilities management and operations, or related field.
• Working knowledge of DCA, OSHA, EPA, and NJDEP regulations as they relate to the areas of responsibility.
• Must be available to deal with emergencies or facilitate the successful outcome of repairs as required to maintain campus operations including weekends and evenings.
• Knowledge and understanding of energy markets and experience in the development of procurement strategies to reduce cost of these commodities is desirable.

- PREFERRED: Professional designation as a licensed engineer or architect.
