JOB SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for implementing school wellness programs K-12 and serve as the information exchange agent for sharing program information and resources within AZMP and with DMI as appropriate. Implements programs highlighting dairy's vital role in a healthy lifestyle and sustainable food system.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills & Abilities:
• Working knowledge of nutritional science, health, and wellness principles
• Understanding of USDA National School Meals program rules and regulations
• Project management skills with ability to effectively organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines without direct supervision.
• Strong leadership capabilities
• Team player with positive, collaborative work ethic.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Demonstrated social media skills
• Must be flexible with schedule as necessary for occasional early morning, late evening and weekend work as well as local, state-wide and national traveling as needed.
• Ability to travel to meeting sites and set up AV or necessary equipment
Experience:
• 3+ years related experience in school nutrition
Education/Certifications:
• Master’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, health education, public health or related field preferred.
• Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credential required.
• School Nutrition Specialist credential preferred
• Valid driver’s license.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Requires ability to stoop, bend, reach, lift and carry items up to 40 lbs.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Engage, educate and inform youth wellness partners about Dairy Council® programs.
• Work with partners to expand the reach, identify sponsors, and to increase program impact
• Engage and communicate with school stakeholders to recruit, retain, and engage program advisors and students in promoting dairy’s role as part of a sustainable food system.
• Work closely with other staff to facilitate success of the school wellness initiative in Arizona
• Oversee activation of the in-school and out of school wellness and culinary programs, ensuring dairy messaging and dairy nutrition education are communicated. Assist with implementation of dairy in summer feeding program.
• Communicate issues, concerns, questions, and success stories to national team
• Establish leadership roles in school nutrition with targeted school stakeholder and partner organizations to promote goals and objectives.
• Participate in stakeholder conferences and meetings to further program outreach and implementation.
• Manage the Unified Marketing Plan specific to school account development by planning, implementing, and evaluating programs targeted to school food service directors.
• Participate in Dairy Optimization meetings and planning as requested.
• Participate in forums and other planning/training sessions administered by National Dairy Council ®, DMI and other S/Rs as needed.
• Assist Director of Sustainable Nutrition with health-related conferences and programs as needed
