We are currently looking for a freelance news reporter to work afternoon/evening shifts (1pm-9pm EST, 10am-6pm PT). Ideally, we are looking for someone to take on fulltime weekly shifts - Monday to Friday.

The position is remote, although New York applicants are welcome to come into the office to work.

Recent graduates with digital newsroom experience are welcome, as well as more seasoned professionals.

This is a news role, but as part of a small team you will be expected to turn your hand to stories across multiple desks, writing entertainment, lifestyle, sport and consumer lines, as well as more traditional news.

Staff contracts are regularly available for outstanding freelance reporters.

The shift rate is $200-250 depending on experience.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the US.

Key accountabilities:
• You will turn around copy quickly and accurately, mindful of legal issues.
• You will write in a concise and entertaining way.
• You will identify trending and newsworthy stories and subjects that will drive traffic.
• You will work with the video desk and picture desk.
• You will interview people as required.

Skills and experience:
• Experience in a similar position, or a position with directly transferable skills.
• Experience using WordPress or similar as well as a picture management system.
• Experience working on breaking news stories.
• Strong understanding of social media.

The candidate will join a team of at least seven journalists devoted solely to producing exclusive content across all sections of the website to drive traffic and build The US Sun’s brand.

You must be willing to travel with little notice and fly to wherever in the United States that news is breaking. Once there, you must be persistent in chasing down exclusive lines, and not stop until you have the story that all our competitors want.

The ideal candidate is a dynamic reporter who can work in the office or on the road across news and entertainment.

You will also be able to pitch ideas and come up with stories that are likely to gain traffic and build the brand.

You will also be expected to appear on TV, radio or podcasts to discuss your stories and represent The US Sun.

The position is based in News Corp’s Midtown Manhattan office, however outstanding candidates from across the United States will be considered (as long as you are close to an airport).

Preferred Skills

The candidate should have experience with: .Net and C#, JSON, SOAP AJAX, REST, HTML5, ReactJS, as well as relational database experience with oracle, SQL Server.
Experience serving as a system administrator in Salesforce Lightning.
Experience in Apex programming, lightning (aura framework and LWC), Java scripts, APIs development and integration.
A demonstrated track record of performing Salesforce administrative tasks including creating custom objects, fields, workflow and validation rules, page layouts, list views, reports, dashboards, email templates and Lightning app pages.
Experience administering the Service and Sales Clouds in a work environment.
Experience using Salesforce Data Loader, Import Wizard and Workbench.
Ability to complete tasks on tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
Ability to read, write and edit Salesforce object query language (SOQL) queries.
Expert of software development life-cycle involving Salesforce.com implementations.
Expert of SDLC processes and tools, Iterative Design & Prototyping (Agile).
Must have experience preparing technical specifications, detailed design documents and developing test case.

Job Description
The Fire Department, City of New York (FDNY), seeks a full-time Solution Architect for CAD in the Bureau of Technology Systems and Development. Reporting directly to the Director of FireCAD and Application Architecture, the successful candidate will: Provide technical leadership and guidance to the CAD Application Development group. Design and document the high-level architectural specifications of new applications. Make and enforce decisions regarding technology, system workflow, database design and interface with other internal and external systems. Develop best practices, strategies and methodologies for solution delivery. Architect and design new applications from a component, security, workflow and integration standpoint. Maintain high-level understanding of technologies, procedures and concepts across multiple streams. Understand the current IT infrastructure deployed within FDNY specifically the Oracle Fusion Middleware Stack (including WebLogic, OBIEE, Oracle Access Manager, Oracle Unified Directory and Oracle Service Buss). Bring various initiatives, including mobility and external interfaces, to fruition. Review future technologies and create and maintain architectural roadmaps for development teams. Mentor technical team members. Serve as the escalation point for complex technical project issues. Manage customer satisfaction by overseeing and leading technical work streams and managing client project expectations using a technical consulting team.
Design and present innovative technology implementations to senior management.
