Department: Annex Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties: This position is responsible for verifying citations and processing requests from Special Collections, RazorRush, Interlibrary Loan, and library patrons via ILLiad, Alma, Caiasoft, and other appropriate software or systems. This position regularly handles boxes and/or bins weighing up to 30lbs during the retrieval of requests and reshelving of returned items while also utilizing motorized lift equipment. The specialist prepares physical item requests for delivery to specified library locations and departments; processes physical item returns for reshelving utilizing the Harvard method for high-density library storage; assists with the scanning of materials for digital item requests; responds to resend requests, cancellations, and conditional messages via multiple communication channels, including MS Teams and email; and assists library personnel with requesting systems as well as answering questions regarding the status of users’ requests. This position acts as lead worker in the absence of the Library Annex Facility Supervisor and assists the Library Annex Facility Supervisor by providing functional supervision (trains, monitors work, and provides input on performance evaluations) of hourly and work-study employees. In addition to working primarily in the Library Annex unit, this position may be required to provide staff coverage at the User Services Help Desk locations during times of staff shortages. The specialist reports to the Library Annex Facility Supervisor. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
