Job Overview
This is a role within the distribution center of Simon & Schuster, a 100-year-old company with offices around the world. In this role you will be responsible for fulfilling our customer orders by locating and picking our product in all the picking areas within the Distribution Center so that the orders are accurately packed.
What you will be doing on a daily basis
• Following simple voice commands from a voice activated management system, which you will be trained to use, in order to accurately select products to fill book orders for packing. This will require you to scan labels using a finger scanner and then place the product into the correct boxes.
• This is a fast-paced environment, and you will be responsible for meeting quotas and maintaining productivity standards. You will also need to adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety rules.
Some requirements:
• You must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
• You must have careful attention to detail and strong communication skills
• Some analytical experience is preferable
• You must have the ability to stand for up to 8 hours/day
Shift and Schedule:

Qualifications:
• Proven experience in the handling of controls for driving forklifts and Order Pickers.
• Must be skilled in handling controls for starting, stopping, backing, and driving forklift trucks through narrow aisles in buildings, up and down ramps, and in and out of railroad cars, trucks, etc.; and, for lifting, lowering, and tilting forks by moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate controls.
• Must know how high, wide, and long the forklift truck and its load are, and how much the forklift truck can lift.
• Good spatial ability to identify how high and wide a doorway and an aisle must be to drive the forklift truck and its load; how high and wide the shelf, bin, etc., must be to place the load; and how high the load must be lifted to reach the shelf or bin.
• Knowledge of the layout of the storage area to be able to find and place items without the need for detailed instructions.
• The ability to work at heights.
