Operators are expected to navigate equipment like forklifts and clamp trucks in a safe and timely manner, ensuring the product is moved efficiently within and between departments.
Unload material and products from incoming vehicles and distribute them to assigned locations
Ensure inventory is accurately tracked and managed
Assist with the unloading and working of broke rolls/bale trailers
Identify damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies
Regularly inspect machinery to determine the need for repairs and guarantee safety by performing regular maintenance
Offload raw materials and deliver to converting lines
Communicate with converting lines and warehouse
Able to move and work efficiently in different areas of the Warehouse as needed
Able to reset Laser Guided Vehicles (LGVs)
Align with Warehouse leadership on issues and discrepancies
Keep up with daily load production volume
Hold self and others to a high level of safety standards, ensuring workplace safety policies are upheld and safety rules are followed (lockout/tagout procedures, confined spaces, appropriate PPE)

The Job You Will Perform
The New Bern Mill Purchasing & Stores Manager will be responsible for the daily operations of the Purchasing team and management of the storeroom. The Manager will continue to gain alignment with identified Global Sourcing best practices and allow us to capitalize on Global Sourcing driven cost saving initiatives which will help us maintain our competitive advantage and our low cost position within IP. Key Accountabilities
• Responsible to provide safety leadership through modeling of safe behaviors and to ensure employee adherence to all mill safety requirements and expectations.
• Execution of mill sourcing functions to meet the needs and requirements of mill operations and maintenance

• Serve on regional cross-functional teams to improve procurement and supply management processes, inventories, and total cost of ownership.
• Recommend new suppliers based on quality, service, and competitive pricing.
• Facilitate risk management processes -- contractor insurance, safety documents and pre-qualifications are in place and meet IP and mill requirements.
• Measure and track process improvements as outlined by Global Sourcing and mill KPI’s.
• Develop, foster, and maintain team relationships.
• Management, training and development of purchasing personnel including execution of the Performance and Development Roadmap.
• Manage the Stores inventory of approximately $9.5MM, work with Maintenance to set objectives and manage implementation of initiatives to optimize inventory levels to reduce mill working capital while maintaining service and mill reliability.

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Operates a paper mill to make high quality filter paper that meets strict quality standards. Makes decisions for production changes based on various forms of data.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Operates a paper mill.
• Sets up the machines and ovens and threads rollers for different types of media.
• Measures filter frames in the filter assembly area to obtain the correct paper measurements needed.
• Collects paper samples from each mixing tank and takes lab readings such as weight, resistance, tensile strength, and thickness.
• Takes equipment readings and completes an Operator's Report.
• Continually monitors the speed of the machines and the width of the paper.
• Interprets lab results and changes paper mixing formulas based on the results.
• Makes adjustments to the machine to make sure the paper meets specifications.
• Directs the work of the mixers and inspectors to maintain the production schedule, ensure quality media, promote safety, and maintain the equipment.
• Listens to and observes the machine to discover any problems. Schedules maintenance and writes work orders.
• Performs minor maintenance on the paper mill including pump rotation and changing the rollers.
• Prepares an antifungal chemical for certain types of paper.
• Trains new operators.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.
• Recognizes defects in the media and makes necessary changes.
• Interprets lab results from each batch of paper.
• Downgrades or rejects paper that does not meet specifications.
• Oversees the work of the Paper Mixers and Line Inspectors.
• Responsible for obtaining filter frame measurements.
BUSINESS:

• Reading and writing skills are needed to be able to complete written reports and perform lab analyses.

• Measurement skill to 1/16 inch is required.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Operates a paper mill to make high quality filter paper that meets strict quality standards. Makes decisions for production changes based on various forms of data.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Operates a paper mill.
• Sets up the machines and ovens and threads rollers for different types of media.
• Measures filter frames in the filter assembly area to obtain the correct paper measurements needed.
• Collects paper samples from each mixing tank and takes lab readings such as weight, resistance, tensile strength, and thickness.
• Takes equipment readings and completes an Operator's Report.
• Continually monitors the speed of the machines and the width of the paper.
• Interprets lab results and changes paper mixing formulas based on the results.
• Makes adjustments to the machine to make sure the paper meets specifications.
• Directs the work of the mixers and inspectors to maintain the production schedule, ensure quality media, promote safety, and maintain the equipment.
• Listens to and observes the machine to discover any problems. Schedules maintenance and writes work orders.
• Performs minor maintenance on the paper mill including pump rotation and changing the rollers.
• Prepares an antifungal chemical for certain types of paper.
• Trains new operators.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.
• Recognizes defects in the media and makes necessary changes.
• Interprets lab results from each batch of paper.
• Downgrades or rejects paper that does not meet specifications.
• Oversees the work of the Paper Mixers and Line Inspectors.
• Responsible for obtaining filter frame measurements.
BUSINESS:

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Reading and writing skills are needed to be able to complete written reports and perform lab analyses.
• Basic math skill is required to be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide to set up the machine and to figure formula changes, inventory used, and filter pack measurements.
• Measurement skill to 1/16 inch is required.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
• Previous paper mill experience as a mixer is required.
• Knows the uses for various types of fiber as well as the effects of formula changes on media quality.
• A mechanical background involving pumps, motors, or rollers is required.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred but not required
