Plans and manages Information Technology (IT) resources and directs system-wide project implementation. Identifies and evaluates emerging technologies, recommends appropriate technology initiatives to Library Administration, determines priorities for implementation, develops specifications, secures necessary resources and administers successful implementation, operation and maintenance. Develops the Library’s technology plan and IT services to meet the system Strategic Plan goals and objectives. Serves as a member of the Library Leadership Team and addresses system-wide initiatives and concerns. Supervises the staff and operation of the IT Division to ensure effective deployment of IT services throughout the Library. Develops policies for the proper use of technology resources. Coordinates work with Library Administration and the County Information Systems Services (ISS) Department, as well other County departments and vendors.

Education/Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field; a minimum of five (5) years of experience in Information Technology, which includes two (2) years of supervisory experience. Equivalencies: Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification and a minimum of nine (9) years of related experience which includes two (2) years of supervisory experience; non-related bachelor's degree and a minimum of seven (7) years of related experience which includes two (2) years of supervisory experience; related associate's degree and a minimum of seven (7) years of related experience which includes two (2) years of supervisory experience; related master's degree and a minimum of three (3) years of related experience which includes two (2) years of supervisory experience. PREFERENCE FOR: Master's Degree in Library Science accredited by the American Library Association (ALA); professional work experience as a System Administrator or Project Manager for an Integrated Library Automation System (ILS) or Oracle Database Management System (DBMS) (must specify); experience using ILS or DBMS query tools/reporting functions to provide customized information reports (must specify); experience drafting and managing a technology budget for hardware and software (must specify); public or academic library experience.
