About the Role:

The Mechanical Engineering team at Planet is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to help drive the design of key spacecraft subsystems across Planet’s fleet of Earth-imaging satellites! Your mission will be to champion our spacecraft design efforts, from the subsystem level, all the way up to the top-level spacecraft. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned mechanical designer who has led mechanical engineering efforts across multiple spacecraft programs from conceptual design, through to flight. As a member of the Mechanical Engineering team within Planet’s Space Systems division, you will be a key contributor and stakeholder in Planet’s agile aerospace approach to spacecraft design, and will work hand-in-glove with structural analysis, thermal engineering, and reliability & qualification, as well as the rest of Planet’s leading-edge spacecraft design and manufacturing teams.

Impact You’ll Own:
• Own the mechanical design and architecture on key spacecraft subsystems across Planet’s satellite fleet
• Drive documentation and presentation of new designs throughout design process, e.g. across design review gates
• Collaborate with structural analysis team to drive / perform analyses on key spacecraft subsystems to meet stiffness and strength requirements
• Drive part / assembly tolerancing using GD&T, and own release of drawing packages for part fabrication
• Drive part / assembly design and fabrication at key subsystem vendors
• Collaborate with manufacturing team to implement key spacecraft design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) features
• Support ICD development and release of key structural interfaces
• Support test planning and qualification test campaigns
• Support debugging and root-causing on-orbit anomalies

What You Bring:
• 7+ years experience in designing complex thermo-optically sensitive hardware, preferably for space (but other applications will be considered as well)
• Expertise in computer-aided design (CAD) software. SolidWorks preferred, though not necessary
• Seasoned experience in and passion for analyzing and root-causing problems quickly and efficiently
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering or science degree
• Ability to generate part drawings and perform GD&T
• Experience with design and fabrication of composites and metal parts
• Hands-on experience with dynamic hardware builds, vibration and shock testing
• Self-motivation and a strong sense of ownership over one’s work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
• Outstanding verbal and visual communication skills

About the Role:

Planet is looking for a strategic product marketer to help grow the market for Planet’s data and platform, and enable business expansion by operationalizing go-to-market strategies across industries and countries. You will be part of the marketing team, sitting within the dynamic Product & Solutions Marketing group.

This product marketer will be embedded in broad cross-functional, go-to-market initiatives that ultimately drive revenue for Planet’s high-resolution data products. Responsibilities include engaging with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders, leading product launch activities, building messaging and positioning, and synthesizing market trends and new use cases that Planet products can address.

You will work closely with the Product organization in defining customer & partner challenges and providing input to the roadmap for new features that address critical unmet needs. You will work closely with the Commercial organization to ensure “field readiness,” determine effective engagement strategies and arming them with the right messaging, content, and competitive insights.

To be successful in this role, you will bring a clear perspective on how to bring new geospatial data-as-a-service (DaaS) and enterprise software products to an evolving market, with a detailed understanding of how to develop buyer and user personas and the stages of their buying journey. An attention to detail and an eye for high quality are critical to your success, along with an ability to articulate our products’ differentiated value in ways that resonate with our audiences in different industries. This role is expected to routinely present at external conferences, events, and webinars, and should be adept at public speaking and evangelizing Planet’s mission and products.

Impact You’ll Own:
• Deeply understand the geospatial data and analytics market, where Planet fits; identify opportunities for market expansion and assess gaps.
• Support Planet’s go-to-market initiatives (product launches, solution development, partnerships) and drive execution of deliverables across sales, product, marketing, legal, and operations teams.
• Lead customer betas and feedback workshops to gather market insights.

• BA/BS degree
• 3+ years of product marketing experience
• Proven track record positioning products and marketing B2B/enterprise products
• Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills (to both internal and external audiences)

About the Role:

Based in Germany or the UK, the Middle East Sales Lead will be responsible for growing Planet Government sales pipeline and book of business in Security related Government institutions (including Defense) in the Middle East region. The ideal candidate for this position is a driven, independent thinker, who can also be creative in finding new and dynamic ways to expand Planet’s government business. This person will have a proven track record of selling to Security, Intelligence and Defence Government customers in this region, with an extensive network and able to navigate procurement processes and frameworks. They will identify, qualify, negotiate, and close large and medium-size deals and drive sales revenue targets. Most likely, the ideal candidate will have a technical understanding of geo-spatial imagery products, or a similar technical field and understanding of government customers that we sell to.

This role involves developing an extensive pipeline of new sales leads, providing product and sales demonstrations to prospective customers, and formulating appropriate business. To support this, the candidate should have the ability to forecast accurately when managing the incoming pipeline of opportunities. The need to source, sell, co-sell, and close deals means that the ideal candidate should be familiar with the concepts of carrying quota and closing. About the Role:

The Verification and Validation Test Team is responsible for creating and maintaining the end-to-end tests and infrastructure for our new satellite development programs. Test Engineers on our team tackle projects to design and build integrated software and hardware platforms that allow us to validate our spacecraft performance and verify our requirements. As a member of the Verification and Validation Test Team, you will collaborate with design and software engineers to develop everything from board-level tests to fully integrated HIL setups that enable the demonstration of spacecraft performance and operation.

As a Systems Test Automation Engineer you will develop the software and test scripts that interact with the satellite from different environments including the ground station and debug ports. You will be hands-on in the lab getting the first integration of hardware and software together functioning and validating the design and performance. You will also be responsible for developing dashboards for real-time data visualization, test data storage, and post-processing of test data.

Impact You'll Own:
• Develop scripts and programs that allow the execution of a wide-array of tests on the spacecraft
• Design and implement GUIs, command-line interfaces, and other interfaces to allow users to interact with the integrated "flatsats"
• Integrate the newly developed tests on the next generation of satellites into the existing test infrastructure and help transition from development to production
• Adapt and modify flight code to allow for the integration of various test systems and scenarios into our HIL test beds
• Improve processes such as software deployments, continuous integration, testing, planning, documentation, etc.
• Write scripts to test the hardware and software against requirements and map requirements into test campaigns on the various integrated test beds
• Hold regular meetings with stakeholders to understand and their needs
What You Bring:
• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience developing software applications and automating tests
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or other relevant field
• Proven history of identifying a customer's needs and delivering a solution in a timely manner
• The ability to plan a project by identifying dependencies, breaking the work into pieces, and collaborating with teammates to complete the project
• Experience with unit testing, continuous integration, and documentation
• Knowledge of fundamental software engineering principles and design patterns, and knowing how and when to use them
• A fearless attitude: unafraid to experiment with new solutions and tackle difficult problems
• Programming experience in both Python and C/C++
• Strong Linux fundamentals
• Experience with DVCS such as git or mercurial

Compensation:

The US base salary range for this full-time position at the commencement of employment is $97,600 - $160,500. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives (bonus and equity).
