Position Summary and Responsibilities

The Program Administrator for Engaged Pluralism will support the Director of Engaged Pluralism in developing and implementing programming for the newly created consortium of Engaged Pluralism projects, working groups and Directors at the College.

Engaged Pluralism at Vassar emerged at the 2022 conclusion of the Mellon Foundation funded Engaged Pluralism Initiative (EPI). EPI shifted the College's practices toward building cross-campus communities that emphasize belonging. Moving forward, Engaged Pluralism will carry this legacy in its efforts to create collaborative efforts in which students, faculty, administrators, and staff actively engage across differences.

Reporting to the Director of Engaged Pluralism, the Program Administrator will work with and support the Director to provide creative energy, ingenuity, and structure to the projects and practices of engaged pluralism on campus. In these efforts, the Program Administrator will work within a supportive environment of administrators, faculty, and student leaders. In addition, the Program Administrator will coordinate and manage improvements to the EP website, newsletter, and social media communications.

Responsibilities:
• Partner, support and assist the Director of Engaged Pluralism in developing and implementing EP programing.
• Support the execution of all EP related events (including scheduling, arranging logistics, event support).
• Participate in the Leadership Team of EP.
• Manage overall communications of EP, including website, newsletter, social media, print and promotional materials.
• Manage program budgets, reports, procurement card expenses and reports, online databases and files for select EP-related programs.
• Help supervise EP Student Interns.
• Provide support for Working Group recruitment, retention, and facilitation.
• Provide support for Igniter Pitch projects.
• Support for Summer Immersions program including planning, implementation, and evaluation; and additional support for Dean of College summer programming.
• Help maintain an up-to-date calendar of events and deadlines.
• Other relevant duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• Bachelors degree in relevant field required. Masters degree preferred.
• Two to five years leadership experience in college student development, higher education management or related field, including working with historically underrepresented groups.
• Outstanding organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks successfully.
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to take initiative and realize projects and goals with minimal supervision.
• Experience planning, facilitating, and managing projects and events.
• Experience with group facilitation.
• Ability to interact with, and act as a liaison between, members of the Vassar community who occupy different roles in the college, including students, faculty, staff, and administrators at various levels of the organization.
• Ability to affirm, advocate for and relate to students from a diversity of cultural backgrounds, using a high degree of judgment and confidentiality.
• Strong cultural sensitivity.
• Willingness to continue education and training on various equity topics.
• Demonstrated experience leading groups, workshops, and facilitating students, faculty, and staff on topics such as cultural competency, equity, inclusion and belonging.

Collaborating closely with various campus stakeholders—including students, staff, faculty, volunteers comprising the Joint Campus Ministries, and leaders in Houston’s various faith communities—the Director takes a holistic approach to developing and implementing programs, policies, and initiatives that promote inclusivity, and support for individuals and communities for whom religion, spirituality, faith, and secularism or human-based ethics are critical to their identity. In addition to a focus on nurturing cooperation among people of different faith traditions, secularists, and the non-religious, this role actively contributes to building a broader campus environment that encourages inquiry, facilitates meaningful conversations, and promotes a sense of belonging for everyone. Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (theology, divinity, religious studies, interreligious studies, higher education, social work, etc.)

• Master’s, Ph.D. or other terminal degree in a relevant field

DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM: PS1 Pluralistic School is a small, non-profit,

independent school in Santa Monica with an enrollment of 210 students from five to

twelve years old. The Aftercare Program includes all these ages together in a group of

up to 75 children. Parents enroll their children on a regular basis or use it on a drop-in

basis, so the daily attendance varies.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES for CHILDCARE ASSISTANTS: Three assistants work

as a team along with the Director of the Aftercare Program, creating engaging daily

activities. An essential part of the job is interacting with and supervising children. Each

must have Respectful and kind communication with small children through pre-teens

are a must. Aftercare assistants make decisions confidently and plan ahead creatively;

lead crafts, non-competitive sports and games, literature, cooking, dramatic play and

nature study; and help children become more skilled in problem solving.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES NEEDED: An Aftercare Assistant should be

skilled in communication with children of all ages in the program, a good listener, a clear

speaker, and knowledgeable about facilitating independent learning. Patience and

good sense of humor are required. An interest in the physical, emotional, and

developmental growth of young children is essential.

QUALIFICATIONS: Prior experience in either teaching or child-care with young

children is a must. Previous course work in child development or current enrollment in

course work is desired. Strong interpersonal skills, stamina, a love and respect fotr

children, are required. Some computer skills are necessary. References are required.

Hourly salary may be adjusted based on experience. Contract may include pre-

service, training and/or occasional extended day and evening assignments. PS1 is an
