You will be a key member of our Experience and Events team.
What we’re looking for:
Your eye for video storytelling has you seeing visions through to execution.
You cover events with documentary-based, story-driven techniques and from time to time, you’ll add in motion graphics and animation if it suits the story’s vibe.
You have experience producing videos (typically .60 - 6 minutes in length) with the ability to lead video storytelling, storyboard creation, shooting, editing and producing videos.
When you walk into a room (digital or IRL), you understand how to transform it into an engaging experience that moves people to act.
You’re a typography geek with an eye for digital storytelling.
The challenges presented by mobile and email are just opportunities for smart design in your eyes.
The thought of creating visual assets that will inspire the best in the media business — from The New York Times, National Geographic, The Washington Post and TIME Magazine to colleges and universities, local newspapers or NPR — makes you excited to apply for this role.
You are eager to collaborate with a team of audience, experience and engagement professionals to create compelling assets and experiences.
You have a passion for creative problem solving and design in the digital space, but feel equally at home creating printed materials.
You live to create immersive brand interactions and view video storytelling as central to creating a world-class customer experience.
You’ll move people to support Poynter’s work through videos like this one and thank them for their donations with videos like this.
Need to have:
3-5 years of video production and multimedia design experience
A demonstrated track record of designing immersive, experiential visuals
The ability to lead a video project from storyboard arc to shooting/editing/producing and publishing
Experience with auto remixing and color correction
Advanced skill utilizing Adobe Premiere Pro and supplemental apps like Photoshop, After Effects, InDesign, Illustrator or Audition
The ability to excel in fast-paced, deadline driven environments
Nice to have:
Journalism or news design experience or an understanding of the media industry
Background in experiential or immersive marketing
Experience curating compelling guest experiences for both in-person and virtual events
