About the Role
We are looking for a business-minded, execution-driven Senior Counsel, Product and Privacy to join our legal team. We are a small, nimble legal department supporting a growing business, so we are seeking an attorney who enjoys wearing multiple hats, proactively takes on new responsibilities and is excited by the challenge of providing legal services at a dynamic, fast-growing... fintech company.
This role is a hybrid role and requires visiting our New York City office 2-3 times per week. Candidates need to be within commutable distance of our New York City office.
Key Responsibilities
• Partner with a range of cross-functional teams, including marketing, product, HR, business development, sales, finance, and operations, to identify and provide strategic advice on legal issues impacting MoneyLion's products, business and customers.
• Work creatively and collaboratively with the product and business teams to provide business-oriented advice and support at every step of the product life cycle, from design and development to customer support, marketing and advertising activities, and to counsel the product and business teams on applicable laws and regulations relating to consumer protection, marketing, data protection and privacy.
• Develop and strengthen privacy and information governance programs, practices, and procedures, including advising on intra-company data sharing and data uses, and advise the business on privacy and data protection issues in general.
• Engage with regulators and external partners by providing thought leadership and strategic direction on novel legal and regulatory issues that impact MoneyLion's products and services.
• Review proposed rulemakings, draft comment letters in response to proposed rulemakings and monitor evolving laws that may impact MoneyLion's products and services, and assist with operationalizing and implementing compliant solutions.
• Draft and maintain consumer-facing legal policies, documents and related materials, including terms and conditions, product policies and disclosures, and implement related processes.
• Support the development and maintenance of legal resources, playbooks and materials.
• Manage day-to-day interactions with business partners, outside counsel, and other stakeholders.
• Assist legal and compliance team members in other projects as needed.
About You
• JD Degree from an accredited law school and license in good standing to practice law in at least one state bar.
• 7+ years of relevant law firm or in-house experience; a mix of law firm and in-house counsel experience is preferred.
• Financial services background or experience working in fintech / regulated consumer-facing financial services industry a plus.
• Strong knowledge of GLBA, FCRA, TILA, TISA, UDAAP and other financial regulations.
• Strong knowledge of data protection and privacy issues, particularly as they relate to the financial services industry is preferred.
• Sharp analytical skills, diligent, proactive, and collaborative, and have demonstrated excellent legal and business judgment and strategic thinking.
• Comfortable in dynamic, fast-paced environments, with an entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to roll up your sleeves and do the work.
• Interest in the unique privacy and regulatory considerations in the fintech space, including as they relate to the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning in product- and operations-related processes.

The annual base salary for the Legal Counsel role is expected to be between $210,000 to $240,000. Base salary is one component of MoneyLion's total compensation package, which includes, 401(k) match, multiple health insurance options, disability coverage, life insurance, and unlimited paid time off for salaried positions. Actual salaries will vary based on a candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and competencies related to the role.
