What you’ll be doing
Over the... course of two years, you’ll learn that Digital Engineering covers and assists a wide range of applications and project functions. Applying Digital techniques, utilisation of data and 3D geometry to improve project efficiencies and Information Management. Developing modern and technologically advanced buildings, infrastructure and platforms across nuclear power stations, MoD facilities, equipment, and wider assets.
The possibilities are many and varied. Whatever you work on, you can be sure you’ll be making a real difference.
As a Digital Engineer, you may need to support:
- Digital Strategy and Execution Plan development
- Model and Data Management procedures
- Creating renders, visuals and model animation sequences
- 4D and 5D modelling
- Immersive technologies – Virtual Reality production for design reviews
- Laser scanning production and data processing
- Coordination, health and safety model reviews
- Federated design models
- Clash Detection reporting
- Model quantification
- Digital Handover and Asset data management requirements
- Interfacing with all disciplines to utilise project 3D models and data to provide efficiencies

Our Quality teams help our organization perform at its best by acting as the ‘voice of the customer’ to make sure the highest of standards. Our team of Quality Technicians play an important role within the Quality Management function by providing day-to-day testing and oversight of policies and procedures to ensure the correct standards of specification.
Possible placements
You will be based in Plymouth with opportunities to travel across the UK. Over the course of the two years, you will work in seven placements, Management System/Internal Audit, Supplier Quality, Operational Quality working in either in a Production facility, on board a naval warship or nuclear submarine, Facilities (Nuclear and Non-Nuclear), Major Infrastructure Projects, Defence Quality Field Force (working alongside the Customer), and Warships Quality.
Depending on your placement your typical day could range from carrying out external supplier inspections to looking for efficiencies or problem solving on our production shop floor to the administration of internal and external audits.
What you’ll need
- A minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 4/C or above, including maths and English and 3 A-Levels grades A-C.
- The ability to gain SC clearance

This role is an incredibly rewarding as you get to have a huge impact on the campers' lives by forming strong connections with them and acting as a positive role model. You need a J-1 visa to do the programme, which also allow you up to 30 days after camp to travel and explore the USA.
You must be 18 years or over before the 1st June of the summer you want to take part in.
You need to be able to depart for camp at some point between 1st May and 20th June. If you’re applying for the Campower programme you must be in full time education. You must complete and pass the relevant Police Check for the country in which your applying from. You need to be fit and healthy enough to spend a whole summer working on a camp. As you’re going to be working in America, you will need a J-1 Visa. This will mean completing online forms and attending a face to face interview at your nearest US Embassy.
