Assembles fabricated parts at workstations per standardized work instructions. Tests and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications. Uses hand tools and power tools to assemble units according to product specifications. Identifies units that fail tests or tolerance levels and repairs as necessary.
• *Responsibilities and Duties**
• Positions parts according to the knowledge of unit being assembled or following blueprints or work instructions.
• Fastens parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, or other fasteners.
• Operates air tools, arbor presses, hand tools, or special machines to assist in assembly operation.
• Assembles specified bolts to specific torque values.
• Assembles nameplates and other labels as required on B.O.M.
• Performs specified electrical performance tests on sub-assemblies and assembled products.
• Performs pump flow tests using water tanks and test panels. Verifies pump performance against engineered standards. Reads performance charts and graphs. Records data as required.
• Assists on paint line as needed
• Completes key performance indicators (KPI's) for performance measurement
• Assists material handler with setups and change over.
• Maintains a clean and safe working environment in line with company policies.
• Other duties as assigned
• *Qualifications and Required Skills**
• Must possess a high school diploma or GED
• Prior manufacturing experience preferred
• Mechanical/electrical aptitude preferred
• Strong troubleshooting skills with a familiarity of pumps and pump systems desired
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds frequently

Description
Responsible for supporting North American Water Systems (NAWS) sales by providing technical representation, training and support to distributors, technicians, contractors, dealers, and/or installers, by gathering site-specific data and installation information to aid with the proper application or troubleshooting of Franklin Electric products. Region that this position will be supporting is Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois and Kentucky.

Key Responsibilities
• In the assigned territory, provide technical service and support for Franklin Electric water systems products, including motors, pumps, and electronic drives and controls.
• Represent Franklin Electric with on-site system support to timely resolve field issues:
• Provide direction, expertise and assistance with new Franklin product installations.
• Guide testing and troubleshooting of existing Franklin products in water systems installations.
• Use on-site activities for contractor training, coaching the contractor during the process.
• Provide support to engineering and marketing on field trial sites.
• Present technical material on Franklin products and water systems:
• Present training seminars/sessions to water systems distributors, dealers, and contractors, (audiences can range in size from less than 10 to over 200).
• Provide specialized training to specific audiences or industry organizations as available or requested (i.e. trade shows, engineering firms, FE Tech, other Franklin Electric groups).
• Represent and promote Franklin Electric at trade shows, open houses, and special events, conducting product demonstrations as needed.
• Collect and report field feedback on marketing information pertaining to product issues and enhancements, and needed upgrades, competitive products, industry distribution or personnel changes, and customer needs or desires.
• Write and submit weekly reports as well as special reports needed to highlight problems at specific sites and/or with certain customers or products.
• Develop good rapport with distributors and contractors. The Field Service Engineer becomes an extension of the sales team and is integral to growing the business.
• Regularly work with cross functional teams including sales, marketing, product management, engineering and applications teams, to share product feedback and recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

• Working knowledge of water systems in general, with specific knowledge of pumps, motors, drives and controls.
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills. Ability to develop strong working relationships with water systems professionals.
• Self-motivated and energetic personality with a desire to service the customer.
• Able to work with minimal supervision with outstanding organizational skills.
• Manages the time, method, manner, and/or performance sequence of own work.
• Effectively communicates information and responds to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, the general public, and other employees of the organization.

• Reads and understands documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

• Solves practical problems where only limited standardization exists.
• Interprets an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deals with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Travels up to 50 percent of the time, including up to 50 percent overnight travel.

Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, or relevant experience preferred.
• Previous service experience preferred.
• Three to five years of technical or related water systems or industry experience preferred.
