Quimbee is seeking an educator with strong subject-matter expertise in the California Bar Examination. The candidate will consult with Quimbee on its California bar review course, with a view toward updating, refining, and improving course content and structure. The role requires strong familiarity with the California Bar Examination and a generalist command of key points of testable law, including any recent changes to California law and exam specifications.

To the extent that new content is needed, you’ll either author the content yourself or advise Quimbee on finding a subject-matter expert. This role can be hired on a full-time or part-time limited, contract basis, with a view toward possible future work at the project's conclusion. Depending on the work, we estimate that this project will take one to three months to complete. Strong preference will be given to those who can dedicate at least 10 hours per week at the beginning.

As an author on a given project, you'll work collaboratively with Quimbee's editorial team to ensure your work is the best possible. You'll master Quimbee's editorial and stylistic requirements to ensure that Quimbee delivers quality content to students on time, every time.

Responsibilities

Your deliverable will be a report that specifies the following:
• Updates needed based on changes to California law (if any)
• Updates needed based on changes to California Bar Exam structure or trends in testable material
• Identifies substantive errors or areas that require closer review by a California subject matter expert
• Identifies major gaps in video coverage, such that important testable topics are not covered; and a
• program of videos needed to fill those gaps
• Spots in the schedule where additional, less, or different essay practice should be provided; and a list of those changes.
• Any other feedback you have on the course calendar, task breakdown, or pedagogical approach.Advise on updating and maintaining a course calendar necessary for an effective California Bar Exam review course

Additional responsibilities may include:
• Review and update course content, including outlines, multiple-choice questions, and lesson videos
• Advise on the study schedule’s distribution of practice essay assignments and suggest updates or changes
• Participate in the editorial process with Quimbee editors and according to Quimbee editorial documentation

Requirements
• Essential Requirements:
• Track record of successfully assisting students with passing the California Bar Exam by providing California-specific bar exam instruction, reviewing practice bar essays and multiple-choice questions, and/or tutoring students
• Successful passage of the California Bar Exam, and graduate from an ABA-accredited U.S. Law School
• Native fluency in English
• Attention to detail
• Strong feelings about the Oxford comma
• Excellent communication skills
• High-speed internet connection
• Preferred Qualifications:
• JD from an accredited law school
• Minimum of one year experience in legal publishing or legal education
• Graduation at the top of your class
• Journal or law review experience
