in teaching for part-time faculty openings for the Fall 2023

At this time, the Legal Studies program is seeking part-time
faculty to teach Legal Research and Writing I and Legal Research
and Writing II. These two courses focus on teaching students how to
reason through a legal problem, how to thoroughly research the
legal issues presented, and how to present solutions in the
appropriate type of legal writing.

About the School/Program:

The breadth of programs offered in the College of Arts and Sciences
provides the traditional strengths of a liberal arts education,
with a focus on cultivating the intellectual and practical skills
that students need for their personal and professional lives. The
College of Arts and Sciences offers undergraduate majors in
behavioral neuroscience, biochemistry, biology, chemistry, criminal
justice, economics, English, game design and development,
gerontology, history, independent majors, interdisciplinary
studies, law in society, mathematics, philosophy, political
science, psychology, sociology, Spanish language and literature,
and theater.

In addition, the College of Arts and Sciences offers 31
undergraduate minors (including a minor in Italian), a MS in
Molecular and Cell Biology and the additional accelerated
undergraduate/graduate programs: 3+1 and 4+1 BS/MS programs in
Molecular and Cell Biology, 3+3 BA or BS/JD degree, 3+1 BA in

As noted above, we are seeking instructors for the legal research
and writing courses central to the Law in Society major, as well as
the Legal Studies certificate minor.

In fall 2023 these courses are being offered as follows: LE 211 on
T/Th from 9:30-10:45am, as an on-line class; LE 211 on T/Th from
12:30-1:45 as an on-ground class; and LE 212 on T/Th from
3:30-4:45pm as an on-ground class.

Applicants make apply to teach any or all of these three
classes.

Education and Qualifications:
• A J.D. degree from an accredited law school is required.
• The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate competence
in teaching legal research and writing.

• Assists in managing student issues related to medical, mental health, socialization, academic and/or behavioral needs that may impact a student’s ability to function successfully at the university
• Serves as a member of the CARE team and assists with trainings and provides resources; obtains updates on students of concern, and facilitates information flow between CARE Team and other stakeholders on behalf of the CARE Team; ensures best practices; provides updates and trends to CARE members
• Receives the daily On-Call Report submitted by the On-Call staff; assists the director with follow-up and consults and informs the appropriate staff as needed. Attends weekly meetings to pre-identify students of concern for CARE Team and/or direct follow-up
• Assists the director with record-keeping process (Maxient) for CARE Team and other students of concern by collecting, evaluating, and recording pertinent facts pertaining to student cases
• Manages student referrals from students, families, faculty, staff, and other members of the university community and provide feedback to referral sources as appropriate
• Meets and consults with students to identify barriers and to develop resolutions in support of their success at QU
• Evaluates and consults on referrals and ongoing cases to determine and implement appropriate intervention plans and coordinates and tracks follow‐up
• Attends and participates in New/Transfer Orientations as needed
• Develops and maintains collaborative working relationships with university partners including but not limited to: Student Health Services, Counseling Services, Office of Student Accessibility, Learning Commons, Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards, Residential Life, Financial Aid, Registrar, Public Safety, Department of Cultural and Global Engagement and Academics Affairs
• Submits monetary requests and receipts for CARE
• Serves as a conduct hearing officer as needed
• Assists with the updates for CARE for the Student Handbook and Academic Catalog
• Assists with Student Affairs assessment initiatives, reports, and statistics as needed
• Prepares and delivers presentations to students, faculty, families and/or staff on issues around students of concern
• Maintains active membership and involvement in Student Affairs national, regional, and state associations
• Represents the Dean of Students Office at university events as needed
• Serves on university and divisional committees as assigned
• Other duties as assigned
Education Requirements:
• Master's Degree required
Qualifications:
• 2-3 years of experience in managing student issues related to medical, mental health, socialization, academic and/or behavioral needs
• Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication, including public presentations
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Superior attention to detail
• Experience in communicating university policies and procedures to students, parents, staff and faculty
• Experience with Maxient software
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite

Responsibilities:
• Adhere to the highest standards of academic integrity and work
in compliance with all University, NCAA, Big East Conference rules

• Manage recruiting information. This includes organization of
unofficial and official visits, recruiting correspondence, and
evaluation of prospective student-athletes. Travel for recruiting
assigned by Head Coach
• Assist with player and team development to include player
individual coached sessions, player video review, practice and game
development, pre-game and post-game break down, scouting for
opponents and tactical adjustments with the greatest emphasis
placed on forward and midfield development
• Work in conjunction with the Head Coach in daily practice
planning with an emphasis on pressing formations, attacking 25
situations, attack penalty corners, and goal scoring
techniques

Education Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree required
• Master's degree preferred

Qualifications:
• 2-3 years of elite level field hockey experience
• Level 2 Coaching Certification from USA Field Hockey

• Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office preferred
