This is an entry level position for a qualified individual to work in Renesas’ Sales Organization under a senior level Field Applications Engineer.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• This engineer will work under a senior level Field Applications Engineer to assist with the development of new customer designs, perform technical reviews, provide analysis and troubleshooting efforts and conduct new product evaluations. Extensive hands-on supporting the local lab will be required.
• Efforts will be focused on understanding and demonstrating Renesas’ value proposition and solving technical concerns in order to ensure that the customer uses Renesas products. Additional responsibilities include product characterization, design simulations and competitive analysis.
• As you gain knowledge, skill and experience, the role will evolve to take on additional responsibility of a Field Applications Engineer.
• When you become a full time Field-Based Applications Engineer, you will be the primary technical resource for pre-sales and post-sales support in your region.
• Your main responsibility is securing design wins across a wide range of customers.
• You will meet with customers and use your analog and power expertise to cultivate design opportunities, position Renesas products, demonstrate technology, address customer obstacles and advance opportunities to design wins.
• You will provide real-time support in both reactive and proactive modes for key customers and the Renesas Sales/REP team.
• You are highly driven, customer-focuses, hold excellent problem solving and communication skills, and have ability to handle several complex issues in parallel.
• You will regularly support customers on-site as they work through system related bring-up or deal with any Renesas products related issues.
• Your specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
• Must be able to quickly and effectively troubleshoot power supply circuits, assist with external component selection and board layout, lead technical discussions and to present technical features and benefits of Renesas products.
• Achieve assigned design win and revenue goals for Renesas products.
• Provide guidance on the value and strategic fit of the assigned product family and then work with the account teams to establish the proper sales goals and strategy.
• Provide competitive updates to the field and help develop impeding strategies.
• Establish dialogue with marketing and management teams of the assigned product lines, updating them on progress of the agreed to objectives and market dynamics as well as competitive inputs.
• Can modify evaluation boards as required for customer demo, delivers demo to customer site and “brings up” and debugs customer boards in the lab.
• Able to conduct schematic/layout review on-site with customer.
• Understands competitive offering and uses detailed product understanding to overcome customer obstacles.
• Leads the effort for technical discovery (uncovering) on key customer designs. Must establish a close relationship with designers, component engineers, the local rep sales team, and distributors
QUALIFICATIONS
• Candidates must be graduating with a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.
• Knowledge of the semiconductor industry is a plus.
• Applies business acumen to strive for success while prioritizing efforts towards highest ROI opportunities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills are mandatory, as customer interface will be a significant aspect of the job.
• Must be a self-motivated team player who is able to take direction, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and communicate effectively

Job Description
Renesas Electronics is seeking an Analog & Power Field Application Engineer who will provide technical support for sales expansion of Renesas products in the North America region. This person will be part of the Industrial Segment sales team driving opportunity discovery and design wins through portfolio presentations, customer design proposals utilizing Renesas products, technical reviews and analysis, and customer debug efforts. Based in the New England area, this person will support customer design sites in the northeast US for a set of strategic accounts focusing on Industrial Automation, Building Automation, Smart Appliances, and New Energy/Smart Metering. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in high performance switch-mode power conversion, LDO’s, PMICs, and a broad background in analog design. Specific experience with system timing, sensors, and RF is a plus but not mandatory.
Depending on experience, this person will start in the Chicago area for a period of hands-on training and mentoring for up to six months. Following this period they will be located in the northeast US, preferrably the Boston area. A relocation stipend will be provided.
Responsibilities
• Build up close relation to the technical departments of our customers.
• Provide technical expertise & support to develop Renesas revenues with customers in close cooperation with the related Renesas Sales team
• Solid technical understanding with a focus on our power and analog products and relevant solutions

• Perform product trainings and drive local promotion programs.

Requirements
• Electrical | Computer Engineering degree or equivalent.
• Experience in analog/power area applications.
• Several years experiences as semiconductor field application engineer, desired.
• Strong problem-solving capability to interface customer needs & resources with energetic and proactive approaches.
• Strategic and commercial thinking to perform and organize efficient design in plan for target accounts; capable of identifying key projects and recommending possible solutions.
• Ability to work independently with strong analytical skills, self-motivated and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Must be fluent in English.
• Capable of communicating technical concepts to a wide audience.

The Core Power Team is seeking an enthusiastic Staff Level Application Engineer who will be responsible for the development and qualification of high-performance DC-DC power converter products with Renesas’ advanced control architectures. The job entails working with cross-functional groups to continually push the envelope of technology implemented in Renesas products.
The location for this position is Durham, NC
Responsibilities:
The candidate will participate in the entire product development cycle of power management IC’s, such as buck converters, boost converters, and buck-boost converters, PMICs and multi-phase regulators. Primary responsibilities will include:
• contribute to the definition of innovative and differentiated products
• product validation and characterization (hands-on work in the lab)
• technical documentation (e.g. datasheet, application note, and design guidelines)
• set up and execute simulations of power converter circuits and systems
• training of field applications engineers as well as customer engineers
• customer support, including off-site support at customer facilities
• system level testing and characterization
• work closely with local and remote teams (FAE’s, design/test/product/reliability engineering, and marketing) to perform the tasks listed above
Qualifications:
The candidate should have a minimum 10 years of industry experience in power management IC applications. We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter with good communication skills (both written and verbal) and knowledge in the following areas:
• Understanding of DC/DC converter topologies, particularly those optimized for handheld devices and notebook/desktop computer applications. These include buck, boost, buck-boost, charge pump converters, and LDO’s.
• Excellent knowledge of control theory, closed loop compensation, stability analysis, phase margin, etc.
• Experience with analog circuit modeling and simulation tools (e.g. Simplis, PSpice, etc.)
• Modeling experience from a block perspective desired
• Schematic capture, PCB design tools such as Orcad, Allegro.
• Proficient with product characterization equipment such as oscilloscope, power supplies, electronic load, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, and function generator.
• Familiar with power management architectures of mobile and other battery powered devices such as wearable devices, smartphones, and tablet/notebook PCs.
• Familiarity with I2C, PMBUS, SPI, SPMI communication protocols
• Familiarity with analog circuits and/or IC design including op-amps, DACs, ADCs, LDOs is also desirable.
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Multi-phase regulator experience is a plus
Education:
• BSEE, MSEE, or PhD preferred.
• BS +12; MS + 10; PhD +7 years’ experience
