The Communications Manager will strengthen and expand RFA’s media relations with outside journalists and editors, through direct outreach and... narrative advancement. S/he will also create and establish routine participation in events and gatherings, with outside experts and groups, including Hill stakeholders. Responsibilities Include:
• Developing and implementing ways of adapting Lao Service news content to engage audiences on social media channels and digital platforms.
• Managing day-to-day curation and management of Lao Service social media accounts.
• Editing and subtitling videos at a consistent level, and ensuring videos’ content and format are suitable and engaging for audiences across different digital platforms.
• Using analytics to monitor the effectiveness of social posts and campaigns; providing feedback to the editorial team based on data.
• Tracking industry trends and use of social media in the target market; identifying opportunities to grow audiences on new and evolving social platforms.
• As assigned, cover news and/or features with depth and analysis.
• Researching information online and from other relevant news sources, and incorporating multimedia, as appropriate, into reports and/or features.
• Monitoring and verifying user-generated content on social media platforms to support news-gathering by Lao Service.
• Writing stories accurately and under deadline.
• Using digital equipment to deliver clean, clear, and creative productions across media platforms.
Qualifications:
• Savvy social media user. Particularly on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field with a minimum of two years of full-time experience in digital, broadcast, or print journalism.
• Experience managing social media platforms for media outlets. Ability to utilize online media in creative and innovative ways and to adapt to new technologies and social media features as they evolve.
• Effective copywriting skills, intuitive knowledge of design, experience with visual storytelling, and ability to identify and select visual media (still image and video) that most effectively tells news stories.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite for graphic design, video editing, and motion graphic design.
• Experience with social analytics (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube), and third-party social management tools.
• Required language skills: Spoken and written fluency in Lao and working proficiency in English.

• Delivering news stories and features professionally on radio and webcast/TV and in the Khmer language.

• Demonstrated extensive experience in broadcast journalism (at least two years full- time experience in a media company preferred).
• Academic credentials (Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field from an accredited college or university preferred) or equivalent transferable skills showing ability to produce, write, and present broadcast news clearly and objectively.
• Knowledge and understanding of current political, economic and social conditions in Cambodia and surrounding countries.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment and discretion in evaluating and presenting broadcast news.
• Strong video production skills along with knowledge and ability to utilize online and social media in creative and innovative ways and to adapt to new technologies as they evolve.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office suite
• Required language skills: Spoken and written fluency in Khmer and working proficiency in English.
