The new assistant professor will be expected to build a successful, internationally recognized group in the area of medicinal or pharmaceutical chemistry, the scientific discipline that encompasses the development of new molecules into medicines... Specifically, she or he will establish a cutting-edge research programme in the discovery, design and/or synthesis of innovative molecules that interfere with disease mechanisms. The programme may involve novel classes of molecules comprising for example, small molecules, peptides, oligoribonucleotides, protein degraders and natural products. The research will ideally provide opportunities to perform translational activities in collaboration and also show a potential for entrepreneurial spin-off. Collaborations with the pharma and/or biotech sectors are highly encouraged. Together, the research programme will contribute to major strategic focus areas of ETH Zurich, those of research and teaching in the fields of translational medicine, personalized medicine and life sciences.
