Required Skills

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION
• Leading the consolidation and delivery of accurate and timely periodic financial reporting such as the monthly financial close process, daily and weekly plant operating KPI metrics, and prepare period operations report summarizing plant performance, as well as ad-hoc analyses
• Work closely with Plant Leadership in a collaborative manner. Provide guidance and influence from the financial perspective, while keeping the Director of Finance fully informed of financial and operational issues.
• Develop and maintain a standard cost accounting system and Bill of Materials, including operations and variance analyses. Leverages comprehensive financial analyses and uses results to provide strategic input to upper management in support of Operational Excellence initiatives.
• Responsible for the development of annual operating budget and quarterly forecast for Yuma Plant and Soledad RTE-Dole operations with full presentation and analysis.
• Monitor process effectiveness and efficiency against goals and objectives, taking corrective action as necessary; identifies, implements, and supports complex process improvements
• Ensure compliance with accounting and Division internal control policies and procedures for plant operations.
• Play lead integral role in Yuma Phase 2 expansion from financial and control perspective from development of Capital Expenditure Requests, ensuring proper spending against the CER. Ensure the proper set-up of accounting, master data, payroll, and all other systems to support the Phase 2 expansion.
• Provide financial and operational guidance … and Lead with the identified opportunities … for the very important Soledad RTE-Dole operations, to become consistently EBITDA profitable. Develop a business case to justify and support the expansion of the 3rd production line to support the growing business.
• Leverage expertise of functional groups, and best practices from other plant operations finance Team, to recommend systems and process improvements.
• Promote teamwork among Plant Operations Finance Team, and accounting staff at Division Office, to ensure work is performed in a collaborative manner and standards for excellent customer service.
• Maintain effective communication with all management staff to ensure coordination and exchange of information for accomplishing company goals. Gathers and disseminates information to all areas/departments regarding policy and procedures changes, and other important issues involving assigned areas.
• Analyze and understand the workflow for Operations Finance Department, and continuously make recommendations to the Director of Finance for changes to improve efficiency and reduce cost.
• This is a hands-on position. The Plant Controller must be comfortable actively engaging with plant management, and periodically visiting the actual production areas. Monthly travel to YUMA will be necessary to develop and support the operations.

Required Experience

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skill And Experience Requirements)
• Minimum 5-6 years of financial reporting and cost accounting experience in a leadership position.
• Recent experience at a plant or operating unit of a consumer products company with monthly reporting responsibilities to a division or corporate office
• Familiarity with mainframe systems; i.e., J.D. Edwards or an equivalent. JDE, AS400 experience preferred
• Advanced computer skills for Excel, PowerPoint, and Business Intelligence.
• Demonstrated leadership/management skills. Skilled at coaching and developing employees.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Bilingual English/Spanish language skills helpful
• Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills.

INTERNAL & EXTERNAL RELATIONS
• Plant operations management and staff, finance leadership, auditors.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION
• B.A. in Accounting or Finance. CPA or MBA desirable.

EMPLOYEE MANAGEMENT
• May supervise 1 to 2 employees performing moderately complex or diversified work.
