The position is established for Billings Native Connections SAMHSA grant and will be funded over the course of the grant project funding.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities and Expectations:
• Implement goals and objectives according to grants and/or contracts with other SAMHSA Staff.
• Develop, plan, coordinate and conduct suicide intervention programing with NADC-BUIHWC Behavioral/Mental Health Providers.
• Develop and/or revise protocols to ensure that youth at risk for suicide, including those who attempt suicide and use substances, receive follow-up
• Assist in developing policies and procedures to promote coordination among youth serving agencies.
• Advocate and raise awareness on behalf of clients and the needs of the community. Provide case management to those families as needed.
• Develop and strengthen partnerships with Native Youth serving organizations to promote referrals to and from NADC-BUIHWC.
• Develop, plan, coordinate and conduct evidence based clinical practices in supporting suicide prevention and substance abuse prevention activities, workshops and/or events with partners.
• Attend meetings with community organizations and schools to develop, plan, coordinate and conduct suicide prevention activities, workshops and/or events with BNC and SBS staff.
• Maintain, update and enhance all current public awareness activities including websites, social media accounts, brochures, resource cards, and other information and marketing with SBS CPC.
• Develop with community partners a cohesive community approach to multiple efforts that address trauma, suicide prevention and intervention.
• Participate in the BUIHWC Strong Zero Suicide Implementation Team..
• Participate in the trainings, activities, events, and sharing of best practices with other Montana Urban Indian Health Centers.
• Participate in staff meetings, prevention meetings and trainings as required or needed.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as requested by Program Director.
• Attend and represent NADC-BUIHWC at required meetings and other meetings as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet NADC-BUIHWC’s mission and the goals and objectives of the Billings Native Connections Project.

Minimum Qualifications (Experience/Education):
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, health education and/or like fields is required. Relevant job experience will be considered.
• Must have at least two years’ experience with the Native American population and Native Youth.
• Must have at least two years’ experience in health education, prevention programs, or like field.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve meaningful results.
• COVID-19 vaccination
• Ability to present ideas, transmit information, and/or convey concepts to individuals or groups of people of varying educational, cultural, and experiential levels.
• Must have at least one-year experience working with social media and other outreach mediums.

Competencies or Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):
• Knowledge of federally recognized tribes in Montana and local Native American population through work experience, academic background, and/or training.
• Knowledge of community organizing with Native populations.
• Use effective communication with diverse audiences in groups and individually by employing active listening and the use of clear, concise verbal and written communication that is accurate, timely and courteous.
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, database software).
• Working knowledge of social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snap Chat, Band, etc.).

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:
• Position is expected to interact in-person and virtually with youth 10-24 years old and their families in physical activities, such as hiking, running, crawling, skipping, walking, jumping, bending stooping, kneeling, squatting, crouching, balancing reaching overhead, pulling, pushing, talking, hearing/listening, and climbing stairs and ladders.
• Frequently sitting, with continuous full use of hands in repetitive hand motion, such as typing.
• Clear vison, as well as speak and hear with normal conversations.
• Requires high attention to detail with frequent deadlines and internal and external social interaction.
• Regular lifting, moving and carrying items 5-30 pounds. Occasionally lifting items up to 75 pounds.
• Work is primarily in an office environment. Must be able to work within an office/clinic/at-home setting, with flexibility to change settings as needed.
• Occasional outdoor environment for physical activities described above.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Maintains continuous communications with government publications creators, Office of Communications Store managers, GPO Warehouse POCs, and other relevant stakeholders to establish an understanding of content update requirements.
• Performing and supporting operations and maintenance (O&M) content updates of web content on Store.SAMHSA.gov and SAMHSA.gov and related websites based on new programmatic activities, enhancements to existing web content, input from subject matter experts and editorial boards, semiannual content refresh input from content owners, and changes to archived web content being migrated or decommissioned.
• Expertise in publications layout and management, with prior experience in the writing, editing and production of newsletters, magazines, brochures and other print materials. Working with the SAMHSA COR for planning and supporting newsletters and other priority information rollouts to the public. Providing content-related site improvements and supporting functionality-related site improvements based on usability findings, metrics, user feedback, stakeholder input, and requests from SAMHSA staff and contractors.
• Ensuring that content meets all previously identified standards for content development and publishing, such as internal SAMHSA clearance, 508 compliance, plain language review, taxonomic tagging, and internal and external search engine optimization.
• Make data-driven recommendations for improvements to the website Content or social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, to improve consumer engagement and analyze the subsequent metrics to report insights.
• Coordination with SAMHSA and the GPO warehouse on eStore orders, inventory and monthly/annal order analysis and support.
• Maintaining lists of the key constituents and stakeholders and updating standard operating procedures

REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or Information Technology
• Able to obtain security clearance - public trust.
• Flexible and adaptive, with the ability to quickly change course and use multiple technologies to achieve required outcomes.
• Able to proactively manage multiple communications paths to ensure content is 508 compliant and obtain content owner approval/acceptance for end product.
