What You Will Do In Your Role
• Inspecting incoming log trucks to ensure supplier quality specifications are met
• Communicating with truck drivers, suppliers, and GP personnel on quality improvement opportunities
• Writing warning/reject notices for loads not meeting specifications
• Maintaining inventory information for raw materials; reporting daily usages and inventories to accounting, wood and fiber supply and mill personnel
• Creating and providing reports relative to wood and fiber inventories, deliveries, and wood quality
• Coordinating outgoing shipments with other Georgia-Pacific mills, customer, drivers, and vendors
• Using multiple computer systems to track incoming and outgoing product to ensure that production is maximized and our product gets to market quickly
• Works in a team environment
• Maintains strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment
• Performs work in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment
• Works overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:
• High school diploma or GED

We are seeking a qualified Scaler/Inspector for our Modoc, SC operations. The primary function is responsibility for inspection, grading, and manufacturing of barkies and shaved poles for inventory.

Principal Responsibilities:
• Inspection of barkie inbounds to ensure compliance with Company standards
• Classification and manufacture of all round stock by latest specifications on ANSI, ASTM, or corporate standards
• Inspect round stock purchased and shaved for conformance with standards
• Document and report production classifications or material processing through the shaver, including identification of month and year shaved, circumference, class, and length on inventory
• Maintain and operate chainsaw in a safe, efficient manner
• Maintain clean scaler inspection deck (and other areas) and clean-cut wood and shavings from area
• Assist in receipt of inbound barkies, tally and mark loads, and record information on daily inbound report as required
• Assist in loading and unloading of products, set dunnage, load railroad cars and trucks, band loads, and tally
• Assist in pole inspection of finished goods as required
• Assist as a helper in other duties as may be assigned
• Participates and contributes to company safety program
• Performs other related duties as assigned
