Wallace Montgomery is seeking a Sketchbook Review to represent MDOT SHA as an auditor in District 7 Contract Finals section. Wallace Montgomery is seeking a Sketchbook Review to represent MDOT SHA as an auditor in District 7 Contract Finals section. Specific duties will include conducting audits by assuring that all pay quantities are properly documented by the project inspectors on construction, maintenance, and local jurisdiction contracts.
Responsible for reviewing and auditing: Inspectors Daily Record... Construction Item Summarys, Construction Daily Logs, Monthly Vouchers, Daily Ledgers,Trainee Documentation, Certified Payrolls, Material Clearances, Semi-Final Vouchers and Final Vouchers. Ensuring that all personnel on the projects are documenting work performed in the construction field.
Regular field audits are performed on active contracts to assure that all pay quantities are properly and adequately documented by the project engineers, inspectors and consultant inspectors to verify that the proper forms, approvals correspondence and other pertinent documents are being incorporated into the project records, in compliance with State and Federal requirements and are reviewed for the District Engineers approval and signature prior to making Final Payment.
Resolve issues over disputed quantities, hold meetings between State Officials and Contractors to resolve the disputes. Prepare documents and claim packages that are used by the Chief Engineer and the Attorney Generals Office in the negotiation and resolution of claim settlements. Review, copy and interpret documents for lawyers for claims against the State.
Research, prepare and write backup and support for change orders on construction and maintenance contracts to adjust asphalt cement and assess penalties for failed materials, density and mix adjustments. Maintain computer data base of current and completed contracts. Prepare monthly status reports for construction projects for the Deputy Administrator. Review As-Built plans and distribute as required. All other duties as assigned.
Qualities looking for:
At least (1) year of Field experience as an Inspector or Office Engineer
Ability to calculate mathematical calculations
Ability to read, understand, comprehend IDRs and sketches
Ability to communicate through email, phone calls and meetings
Basic knowledge of computer programs
