The Editorial Events Producer works alongside the Head of Programming to bring Skift events to new heights. In this role you will work on conference curation, stage production and project managing communication and logistics management. This position has heavy emphasis on editorial and research abilities and requires you to work independently and possess a high level of proactivity. The ideal candidate has strong writing and narrative skills, precise attention to detail, journalistic curiosity and is comfortable wearing many hats.

Skift is a fully distributed, remote company with employees based across the globe. This position is remote, from anywhere in the United States or the United Kingdom, and requires a high level of coordination and communication skills to be successful. You must be able to work independently, meet goals, set tasks in a timely manner, join meetings via video, and periodically travel and work outside normal company hours for special events or projects.

Some of What You'll Do
• Liaise with speaker communications teams to provide event logistics, handle special requests, and help to insure a great event experience.
• Contribute to speaker sourcing, brainstorming, event themes and topics, and the honing of topics.
• Manage event and speaker session information.
• Bring attention to detail to all copy, titles, and external event descriptions.
• Work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, such as the editorial, sales, and logistics teams, to ensure clear communication around event details and all production needs are met.
• Coordinate with Skift's partners to confirm awards content, securing of any necessary assets, and any other needs around the promotion of winners.
• Script and prepare moderator's talking points or stage announcements.
• Proactively handle any arising issues and troubleshoot emerging problems pre and during events.
• Bring an upbeat and curious spirit to both our interactions with outside parties and our team.
• Other tasks as required.

The Experience You Bring
• 4+ years experience in physical events and on-stage editorial storytelling.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects while following each carefully from inception to completion.
• Superior writing (copy-editing) and communication skills and an ability to tell compelling stories around a given theme.
• Direct experience working with speakers or other similar talent, and their teams.
• A strong understanding of the programming process for events or editorial teams.
• Proficiency in WordPress, Google Docs, and experience with Basecamp or other team tools is a plus.
• Persistent self-motivator who can work with minimal oversight and achieve organizational goals.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and easily approachable

The successful candidate is a skilled video producer/ editor with an ability to craft compelling stories, who also understands the technical intricacies of digital video production (file types, frame rates, resolutions, etc). In addition to video, this role would be asked to assist in audio production and the creation of visual and motion graphics and will work in tandem with our Senior Multimedia Producer to quickly deliver video and audio content derived from our editorial coverage, research, and live events.

The extent and nature of work outside of pure video will depend on the candidate’s specific degree of ability across disciplines, but a firm understanding of how various A/V elements are combined to create different assets is a must.

Some of What You’ll Do
• Daily basis: Produce and edit video and audio, review/ tag/ organize video and audio, create graphics (based on existing branding/templates)
• Project-basis: Assist other departments with production and sourcing requests, support creative team with design iteration and planning, assist with video/audio capture (remotely)
• Produce and edit: short promotion videos; event session clips; video news stories; podcasts; and, other content for broadcast on digital platforms
• Produce videos and motion graphics for Skift Live events (approx. 10 each year)
• Review and organize video footage, including: assembly of “selects” shot stringouts; creation of rough drafts to hand off to Sr. Producer; and, uploading tagging video in Brandfolder (our asset management platform)
• Source brand and stock assets from various libraries
• Render basic graphics, audio mixing, and color correction for final export
• Support other teams with requests, in collaboration with Sr. Producer
• Other tasks as required

The Experience You Bring
• Minimum 2-3 years professional experience in relevant video and audio editing.
• Strong journalistic and visual judgment to ensure accuracy and clarity.
• Knowledge of (and interest in) audiovisual storytelling techniques conventions.
• Demonstrated mastery of Adobe Creative Suite, especially Premiere. Abilities in AfterEffects, Illustrator, Photoshop and/or Audition are a plus.
• Good communication skills: Full professional fluency is desired. Someone who can have advanced discussions on a wide range of topics about personal life, current events, and technical topics such as business and finance. People at this level may still have a minor accent and may occasionally misspeak or make minor mistakes. Their vocabulary is extensive and they can carry on conversations with ease.
