About the team:

Scribd is in search of a Technical Lead Manager for the SlideShare engineering team to work on the ground floor of revitalizing SlideShare and to find ways of bringing the value of Scribd to SlideShare users.

The role:

Build and lead a strong, nimble engineering team that is responsible to develop and operate SlideShare. Provide hands-on technical leadership across all of the team's work as well as the team's technical roadmap.

The responsibilities include:

• Managing and recruiting a small team of software engineers and site reliability engineers.

• Leading all aspects of technical project delivery, including system and architectural design, project planning, implementation, deployment, and operations.

• Developing a roadmap for evolving systems to support orders of magnitude growth of SlideShare.

• Owning how the team delivers code and reliably operate SlideShare (+100M monthly visits!).

• Motivating and instilling a strong sense of ownership and pride in your team. Being a presence that makes every engineer on the team better.

You have:

• Demonstrated progression in technical capability throughout your career and have been in a technical leadership position. You either have experience managing engineers or want to get into management.

• A strong problem-solving mindset that allows you to collaboratively work with product managers, designers, and engineers to efficiently turn ideas into working code that move business metrics.

• You are comfortable working across the entire stack (frontend, backend, infrastructure) and have developed and operated large-scale systems in a cloud-native environment.

• You have deep knowledge developing web applications, ideally in Ruby/Rails.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop clear, impactful visuals for presentations.
- Turn complex concepts into impactful visuals using infographics, charts, and smart art.
- Design marketing utilizing PowerPoint, Keynote, SlideShare, Canva, Microsoft Word/Excel, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Creation of charts from data and implement into presentation.
- Manage and work across multiple departments and divisions in a fast paced environment while handling multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Design with purpose-understand the content of presentations and utilize best design practices to create layouts for optimal viewing.
- Consult on the visual story and flow of content to create engaging presentations.
- Analyze key elements of trial and find ways to simplify the difficult concepts visually for easy comprehension by intended audience.

Qualifications:
Required
- Degree in graphic design, illustration, or related field.
- Three (3) or more years working in a strategy, business development, consulting, or marketing environment.
- Experience building C-Suite level presentations.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Ability to take initiative and understand tasks quickly with minimal supervision.
- Experienced corporate marketing designer with expert skill in PowerPoint, Keynote, SlideShare, Canva, Microsoft Word/Excel, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Strategic storytelling capabilities.
- Intermediate drawing and rendering skills.
- Analytical capabilities and ability to transform data into charts and/or graphs.
- Fast, efficient worker with ability to deliver quick turnarounds for important deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal comprehension.
- Meticulous attention to detail, excellent time management skills.
- Strong sense of visual aesthetics and typography.
- Ability to quickly digest and follow directions.
