About The Team
In this role, you’ll be part of the SmartThings Hub Platform team responsible for developing, building and deploying the software that runs on platforms within the SmartThings ecosystem. About The Team

About The Team
SmartThings is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Team. The AI/ML team works on highly visible initiatives within SmartThings to enhance our users’ experiences through intelligent suggestions, recommendations, and home events. This role will be crucial in developing, maturing, and expanding the reach of AI/ML initiatives across SmartThings and Samsung products.
Your Contribution:
• Coach, mentor, and develop team members personally and professionally
• Lead end-to-end execution of initiatives and projects with your team
• Oversee and manage daily operational procedures, including reviews of code, data analysis results and applied machine learning model methodologies
• Have a strong perspective that drives change and motivates individuals to develop simple solutions to complex problems
• Meet regularly with stakeholders to identify needs, gaps, and manage communication
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across SmartThings and Samsung to design and deliver complex and innovative new products
• Track progress and maintain a clear perspective on deadlines and roadmaps
• Help navigate the working relationship with large and sometimes remote teams
• Provide strategic direction that aligns with overall company goals
Key Responsibilities
• Demonstrate both people management and strong technological leadership
• Develop roadmaps and establish team and individual goals
• Lead and spec out AI/ML projects and feature development across teams
• Contribute to strategic planning for AI/ML, edge computing, and model development initiatives
• Develop and maintain relationships with domestic (US) and global teams (e.g. Korea and India)
• Stay abreast of cutting edge machine learning research trends, and experiment with and learn new technologies
• Encourage and develop an inclusive culture and diverse team that fosters innovation and outside-of-the-box thinking

What You Bring On Day One:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Computer Engineering or Computer Science or similar experience
• 10+ years experience with machine learning, data science, or related fields

• 2+ years management experience
• Working knowledge of AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Pandas, Numpy

• Travel: May include 10-15%, including occasional trips to South Korea
