Development Coordinator

State Policy Network is growing rapidly, raising more than $25 million in 2023. We are looking for talented individuals to help us continue to scale our efforts. We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and project management-oriented Development Coordinator to support three fundraisers by efficiently managing the day-to-day operations of their donor caseloads. The Coordinator will be responsible for a range of tasks, including project managing major gift portfolios, database entry, handling major gift correspondence, and ensuring effective communication between the fundraisers and donors.

This role includes a competitive salary commensurate with experience, plus benefits. Many of SPN’s staff are remote and this position is eligible to work remotely from a virtual office anywhere in the United States. Up to 10% travel would be expected including a staff retreat, SPN’s Annual Meeting, and a team retreat.

Responsibilities

Support three fundraisers by managing the day-to-day operations of their donor caseload:
• Partner with the fundraisers to manage their donor plans and assist the fundraisers with touches, steps, asks, stewardship, and other planned contacts for each donor.
• Support the fundraisers as they work with a caseload of donors by handling all Major Gift correspondence and donor files of the fundraisers’ caseload, including executing personalized mailings for donors at the direction of the fundraisers.
• Make sure each donor is thanked properly after each gift.
• Maintain individual donor files in the database for the fundraisers recording touches, moves, interactions, asks, etc.
• Submit and review donor research requests at the direction of the fundraisers.
• Prepare donor research briefing packets ahead of events and work on post-event action items (including data entry and follow-up).
• Professionally handle messages to/from the fundraisers and the caseload donors when requested.
• Work with colleagues across the organization to incorporate appropriate project information, including budgets, offers, proposals and asks, and demonstrating donor impact to let each donor know their giving is making a difference.
• Perform other support functions that may be required, such as occasional scheduling of meetings.

Qualifications
• At least three years of administrative, operational or project management support experience.
• Demonstrated record of handling calls, correspondence and internal operations with a high degree of excellence and confidentiality.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with emphasis on accuracy.
• Strong problem solving, training and personal management skills. Must have initiative and have ability to follow through with little direct supervision.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
• Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines.
• Commitment to and passion for free market principles.
• CRM experience, such as Salesforce, is preferred but not required.

Program Associate

State Policy Network is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Program Associate. In this role, you will advance SPN’s mission and strategic objectives by developing and executing programs that accelerate organizational capacities across the network. You will be a critical member of the programs team, assisting with strategy development with affiliates, developing communications capacities, and connecting staff to resources that help elevate their work in their organization. This is a great role for you if you are a talented project manager interested in exploring or expanding your career in the nonprofit space, are highly organized, thrive on solving problems, and are passionate about helping accelerate free market solutions at the state and local levels.

This position reports to SPN’s Senior Director of Programs and Development Operations and it can be based in SPN’s Arlington, VA headquarters or in a virtual office.

Primary Responsibilities
• Partner with the Director of Strategy Development to organize, plan, and execute strategic planning workshops that meet the specific needs of affiliates. This includes on-site support, note-taking, planning, and assistance with follow-up management and execution.
• Partner with Senior Director of Communication Strategies to organize, plan and execute communications programming for the Network. This includes managing peer groups, developing content for Network programming, and working with our Events Team to set logistics for in-person and virtual gatherings.
• Manage team projects: Ensure team members and network partners remain connected to and on track with strategic objectives, deliverables, and timelines for key projects. You will keep the trains running to make sure big and small picture details are aligned. You’ll also help ensure we’re analyzing our impact as we go.
• Become a trusted partner with our affiliates: You will engage with a broad group of staff, helping connect them with one another, resources, and programs. Through SPN programs and professional development, your skills and knowledge will sharpen and equip you to be a relied-upon resource throughout the network.

Qualifications
• 1-3 years of nonprofit experience
• Demonstrated history of successful project management
• Deep curiosity and problem-solving mentality
• An entrepreneurial spirit, strong work ethic, and capacity to prioritize and balance multiple projects and effectively and meet deadlines
• A team player who can work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment in a professional manner
• Strong interest in advancing State Policy Network’s mission and impact
• Some travel required; less if based in the DC area (20 %)

Preferred
• Experience in digital marketing
• Experience in event planning
• Experience with Salesforce and Basecamp
