Producer/Editor, Sports Video Franchises

USA TODAY Studios, the USA TODAY NETWORK's premiere digital video studio, seeks a Producer/Editor to join its sports video team.

The team is responsible for creating and growing brand-defining sports franchises for an array of platforms. The position is based in New York.

The Producer / Editor will be a key part of a team tasked with developing, creating and publishing a range of digital video franchises.

The ideal candidate is knowledgeable and passionate about the world of sports, especially NFL, NCAA, MLB and NBA, and creative about video approaches to storytelling, coverage and analysis. On any given day across the sports ecosystem, you know what sports fans are discussing, debating, and sharing, and you help identify the can't-miss video moments and news USA Today Sports should be producing.

This role is tasked with planning, writing, producing, and editing a variety of segments on a daily and weekly basis. Demonstrated knowledge and experience editing premium digital video using the Adobe Creative Suite is essential. Experience shooting in the field and in-studio is a plus.

The ideal candidate is experienced in digital video production and comfortable crafting video in different formats including short-form, mid-form and long-form. You know how to develop and execute thematic, series-driven approaches to video that will appeal to audiences from a variety of demographics.

The producer/editor is well-versed in the editorial and production aspects of premium digital video formats, from desktop to mobile to social, with a sharp attention to detail and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

The role requires a hands-on producer and excellent communicator, with the ability to interface with editors, producers, reporters, and product teams around the USA TODAY Network.

This role is based in New York City, and most filming occurs in our studio. This is a hybrid position with an expectation of 2-3 days in office per week on average.

Responsibilities:
• Execute sports franchise video production including development, planning, scripting, production, and video editing.
• Identify and produce packages of video content to support network objectives, including major sporting events and special coverage.
• Help manage publishing processes to ensure content is optimized across multiple platforms including YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok.
• Regularly assess video performance using Adobe and other analytics tools, using data to make informed decisions about format, approach and promotion of content.
• Remain immersed in digital video industry trends to help ensure our slate of franchises stays ahead of the curve.

Requirements:
• Bachelor's or master's degree in communications, journalism or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in sports media and at least 3 years in digital video production.
• Excellent understanding of sports across all leagues, and a passion for its history and culture.
• Experience producing video content for digital platforms in multiple formats.
• Demonstrated creativity for unique series-style approaches to a variety of topics, platforms and audiences.
• In depth knowledge and application of Adobe Creative Suite.
• Proficient in After Effects, Premiere and Photoshop.
• Strong writing and editorial decision-making skills.
