Position Specific Description

The Senior Manager of Thought Leadership is responsible for supporting the creation, development, and implementation of integrated thought leadership, PR and media strategies that delivers on key business priorities and builds awareness of NextEra Energy Resources (NEER), Clean Energy Solutions (CES) products, technology, services, and innovation to support Commercial & Industrial (C&I) customer’s decarbonization journeys. The Senior Manager will drive programs that illuminate NextEra Energy Resources industry leadership and position NEER and as the partner of choice in advancing the decarbonization of the US economy.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop and execute the internal and external thought leadership strategy for the NEER brand and CES strategy; ensure programs support business objectives producing results against measurable goals.
• Leverage research and insights to optimize and evolve strategy, as well as measure efficacy of programs.
• Ensure effective development, planning, execution and promotion of NEER communications programs that advance equity, reputation and accelerates external stakeholder relationships across key vertical industries.
• Collaborate across spectrum of internal and external subject matter experts to create and curate relevant content to accelerate thought leadership equity. Defining effective messaging across diverse audience segments.
• Serve as the relationship liaison with key strategic external partners, such as industry organizations and associations, third party partners and customers to support programming and activations tied to these strategic collaborations.
• Collaborate with internal cross functional teams and network of agency resources.
• Play an active role in communication initiatives and special projects, as needed.

Additional Qualifications
• Minimum 7+ years of experience in communication or related field
• Bachelor's degree in communication or journalism preferred with liberal arts, business majors/minors also considered relevant for the role; graduate study/degree a plus
• Experience in energy sector, ESG function or B2B marketing preferred
• Superior writer with the ability to express complex information clearly and effectively in a variety of channels
• Proven ability to successfully engage with colleagues and external partners and stakeholders at all levels
• Outstanding project management with a focus on deadlines and the ability to course correct as issues arise
• Experience working with and managing vendors and consultants; managing budgets
• Strong ability to adapt and embrace change and work independently and under ambiguous and/or changing circumstances
• Experience working in a large multi-business unit company and corporate function a plus, including working in a decentralized and matrixed environment

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Under the direction of the NY/NJ CAPD Infrastructure Renewal Portfolio Director, the Senior Program Manager manages the $100M program/projects. The individual in this role will use advanced knowledge of project management processes and controls to accomplish project objectives by planning and evaluating project activities with minimal supervision from the Director. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Assist in planning, developing, prioritizing, monitoring, forecasting, and adjusting the NY CAPD projects/programs (reimbursable, GCAP, etc.) that support the Amtrak Strategic Plan as necessary.

• Interfaces with Program Managers, Divisional and Production leadership, Amtrak forces and/or Contractor(s) responsible for implementing the project/program scope, schedule, and budget.

• Responsible for monitoring, reporting, and forecasting the NY IMCS Divisions’ and Production capital spending and capital production units installed by IMCS personnel working on the sub-portfolios projects/programs.

• Coordinate with the Capital Delivery Project Managers, Division/Production IMCS staffing, Discipline Deputy Chiefs, and various operating departments leadership to assist in developing scope, schedule, and budget for projects/programs within the NY sub-portfolio, along with coordination of reprogramming as necessary to allow for resource availability and fiscal constraints on a program level.

• Accomplish project/program objectives by planning and evaluating activities.

• Leads define and achieve engineering, safety, and work standards and associated procedures to ensure that project/program assets meet business needs and satisfy FRA regulations.

• Works within Capital Delivery and engages the various Engineering Disciplines to define business needs for responsible projects/programs and translate those needs into requirements.

• Leads the conceptual design of assets, ensuring the delivery of best practices and continuous improvements.

• Provides leadership and guidance and sets expectations for a staff of four regional program managers.

• Adheres to Amtrak Enterprise Project Management methodology.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, Business Administration or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.

• Supervisory experience in the management of large, complex contracts.

• Extensive practitioner experience in project management (5-10 years).

• Must be able to coordinate efforts with other technical disciplines and have knowledge of scheduling, budgeting, cost forecasting, and estimating.

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities under tight constraints.
