What you will be working on:
Help us build an immersive and fun-to-explore world. Expand our already engaging systems while working to ensure that even those players with low-end computers can enjoy the game with their friends!
Developing Saleblazers will challenge your problem-solving skills due to its large systematic codebase powering an expansive multiplayer open world with shopkeeping and survival systems involving complex interactions, AI simulations, combat systems, stats-heavy gameplay, narrative quests, multiplayer networking, and much more.
On a day-to-day basis, you will develop and build on features such as systems-based combat, an open-world resource system, dungeon generation, online multiplayer networking, base building and decoration, shopkeeping simulation for thousands of in-game items, a deep crafting system, day/night cycle with NPC schedules, open-world level streaming and saving/loading, and more. There are a lot of dynamic gameplay items and NPC interactions, so be ready to write efficient, scalable, and modular code.
You will succeed if you can:
• Design, develop, implement and maintain gameplay systems and features for Unity primarily written in C# (physics, animation, audio, networking, etc.)
• Perform CPU, GPU, and memory-minded optimizations
• Collaborate with production and other departments to help design features
• Work with designers to create modular systems and components
• Write code with scalability and efficiency in mind
• Design AI behavior trees for reactive customer/enemy AI
• Create in-engine tools and automation to assist other departments
• Test, own, operate, document, and support system features
• Locate and squash bugs using a debugger
You will succeed if you have:
• 1+ years relevant full-time professional work experience or equivalent
• 1+ shipped titles credited as Gameplay Programmer or equivalent
• Extensive experience using the Unity Engine
• Cross-platform experience using the Unity Engine
• Knowledge of C# SOLID principles
• Experience working with client-server network architecture
• Experience architecting and debugging game systems
• Knowledge of game software performance/memory constraints
• Advanced 3D math, problem-solving, and analytical skills
• Experience with extending and improving an established code base
• Experience with third party Unity Assets
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Strong task and self-management skills
• A proactive, inquisitive, and independent personality
• A passion for making and playing games!
