PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
To join our editorial team and to create, edit, update and enhance a variety of consumer-focused legal content for publication on SuperLawyers.com, as well as assist in the online publication of additional Super Lawyers editorial content.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Create and edit accessible, smart and useful articles content across multiple legal practice areas in collaboration with editorial leadership and team, as well as online performance partners.
• Write effective informational content designed to help SuperLawyers.com users find answers to their most pressing legal industry questions.
• Perform legal review and updating of existing legal online content on a regular cadence and with passage of new laws and regulations (state and federal).
• Partner with Super Lawyers editorial team members for the online publication of Super Lawyers attorney feature and online-only topical content, as well as additional updating and online article enhancements, as assigned.
• Collaborate with Digital Marketing, Performance, and social media partners to optimize your content using best practices in tagging, keyword usage, headline creation, content optimization, and basic SEO.
• Assist editors and senior editors in content production and editing tasks as needed, including sourcing, editing, publication, and content maintenance.
• Work with editors, senior editors, and colleagues to constantly refine and improve Super Lawyers online content best practices.
• Present project ideas for improving SuperLawyers.com with the consumers of legal information in mind. Develop and lead any projects agreed upon by management/leadership.
EXPERIENCE
• 2-3+ years of professional or legal writing experience required
• Undergraduate, coursework/training in English or journalism a plus
• Journalism or blog writing experience and understanding of SEO writing principles a plus
• Experience writing precisely and succinctly under tight deadlines
• Experience writing and editing in a professional setting
• WordPress or other content management systems, as well as online content creation tools such as Clearscope and Grammarly experience a plus
• Experience with Adobe Analytics a plus
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
• Excellent writing skills, with ability to conduct legal and online research, write and edit compelling, accurate information for consumer audiences.
• Westlaw or Lexis research experience
• Internet savvy with experience using social media tools such as blogs, social networks, microblogging, social bookmarking and/or social sharing. A good grasp on what makes content shareable across networks like Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and LinkedIn is a plus.
• Comfort with editor review of content and with constructive criticism.
