Job Description We are looking to hire an Editorial Assistant working on our Education list. This is an exciting opportunity to gain a thorough introduction to the process of book publishing and work on a range of books, including academic textbooks, scholarly books, and professional books for teachers and school leaders. Submission of a cover letter preferred. What you'll be doing:
• Preparing manuscripts for production
• Arranging the peer review of new book proposals
• Liaising with authors, series editors, and reviewers
• Administrating contracts, reviewer payments, and gratis copies
• Writing blurbs for books and the website
• Data maintenance for books
• General administration for the list
Qualifications What we're looking for:
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong Microsoft Office skills
• Ability to prioritize and manage a varied workload
• Energy and enthusiasm to contribute to a busy working environment
• Ability to demonstrate sound commercial awareness and commitment to a career in publishing
• An interest in the subject and previous publishing experience would be an advantage
Additional Information What you should know:

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a highly collaborative global team on cutting-edge research, theory, and practice at the forefront of the discipline. Topics are subject to change but may include Literacy and TESOL Education and Higher Education and Student Affairs. The successful candidate will be responsible for commissioning a range of text-types in Education. We are particularly looking for someone who can grow their subject areas, working to meet demanding signings and manuscript handover targets, as well as exploring and commissioning Open Access publishing opportunities for the list. The editor should have a minimum of 1 to 2 years book commissioning experience in publishing, a strong commercial awareness, excellent networking skills, and a collegiate attitude towards the sharing of projects and ideas. The ability to deliver revenue growth as well as increase the book offerings in their subject areas is essential. The role will involve close liaison with editorial colleagues on the Education team, series editors and book authors, external associations, and journals, marketing, production, and sales colleagues. The position will involve virtual conference attendance in the United States, as well as some in-person travel in the United States. This position can be based in either our New York City (US), Philadelphia (US), and Boca Raton (US) offices, or based remotely from the US for the right candidate. Qualifications What we're looking for:
• Minimum of 1 to 2 years book commissioning experience in publishing in an editorial capacity; academic publishing experience would be an advantage;

• Ability to network with a range of external stakeholders including professional associations;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

Responsibilities:

Responsible for balancing a diverse range of survey-based projects and subject matter, ensuring that all work is completed efficiently and to the highest possible standard
Manage and keep track of the status of each survey, including which ones are in progress, which ones have been completed, and which ones are still in the planning stages
Responsible for analyzing and synthesizing data, reports, and other information, and presenting it in a clear and visually appealing way

Assisting with building and executing surveys from text to live using Qualtrics

Qualifications

Qualification:

A rising senior or recent graduate looking to gain market research experience.
Must be studying or recently graduated in Marketing, Market Research,Sociology, Psychology,Business, Data science, Economics, Mathematics, etc.
Experience with project management, including intake, project tracking, timeline management, etc.
Strong time management skills and the ability to multitask effectively, as well as a keen eye for detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Ability to take initiative and must have the confidence to learn in a "live" environment
Must be reliable with excellent organizational skills and very strong attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to collaborate with colleagues across an innovative, fast-paced environment
Experience with survey creation software (ie Qualtrics)
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Additional Information The salary range for this role is $16.10-$21.00/ hour based on experience.
