Overview
The Digital Copy Editor will be responsible for ensuring content is free of errors, and in line with brand and AP style guidelines.
Essential Functions
Reviews deliverables to ensure they are free of errors and conforms to the (client) site's standards for style, quality, and clarity
Provides effective feedback in line with the Terakeet Editorial Philosophy, works with Content creators to resolve any edits in a professional manner
Conducts plagiarism checks using the provided technology
Utilizes the AP style guidelines and/or brand guidelines to correct for grammar, typos, and punctuation
Creates style guides and/or documentation as needed to ensure brand consistency
Identifies the level of fact-checking needed for each account deliverable based on conversations with the Content Manager and adheres to the agreed-upon approach
Conducts industry research to inform editorial best practices
Acts as a fact-checking resource for writers on account teams
Initiates monthly meetings with the writers on the account to field questions, develop rapport, and provide individualized feedback

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills
Five or more years of professional work experience in a full-time copy editing role focusing on digital content (websites, blogs, etc)
Experience with an established content operation focused on digital publishing - a newspaper, magazine, or website - with a proven ability to uphold quality and accuracy.
Experience with fact-checking and be an expert in sourcing and citations to avoid plagiarism in the digital publishing landscape
Experience editing content in YMYL (Your Money Your Life) industries preferred, with a working knowledge of space
Desire to work in a creative and fast-paced publishing environment
SEO copy editing is a plus, but not required
Experience using a plagiarism technology
Excellent grammar, writing, copy editing and communication skills
Proficiency in basic numeracy, confidence in analyzing the data within sourced material, and an ability to draw on a variety of general knowledge to critically evaluate written content
Strong attention to detail
Strong knowledge of AP style guidelines
Ability to work quickly in a fast paced deadline driven environment

Works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of SEO analysts, content specialists, designers, outreach specialists, account managers and project managers to evaluate customers’ websites and make recommendations that will lead to better user experience and increased conversions.
