Under the supervision of the Director of Youth Arts Education, the ideal teaching artist is prepared to be a role model within their field, has experience and loves teaching children of all ages, and has extensive experience in their art form. The ideal candidate would include someone who enjoys working with young people and/or theatre for young audiences. These positions also require teaching classes within their art form to campers. Looking for teaching artists in a variety of theatrical, visual, performance, and any similar fields. Some include, but are not limited to visual arts, dance, acting, voice, stage combat, mime, stage makeup, puppetry, musical theatre, and costume and set design.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Providing and implementing age-appropriate camp curriculum within the teaching artists specified field, and able to lead large groups of campers in said class.
Provide the supervisor appropriate feedback and information as needed for their campers to have a successful camp experience
Represent the camp when interacting with parents or community members.
Be alert to equipment and facilities to ensure utilization, proper care, and maintenance is adhered to; report repairs needed promptly to camp director.
Participate in training, staff meetings, supervisory conferences, committees, and special events. Represent the JCC on appropriate staff committees and at interagency and professional conferences as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Strong organization, communication, and collaboration, along with the ability to be flexible
Energy and passion for working with youth and children in a recreational camp setting

PHYSICAL SKILLS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The workplace may be noisy at times.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Salary Range: $35-60 a class, dependent on experience; Teaching artists are asked to teach a minimum of two but up to four classes each camp day.
JCC Membership: Upon completion of orientation and successful summer employment, summer hires will be gifted a JCC membership to utilize the JCC facilities through December 31st, 2024.
All full-time summer hires receive their first child free to attend JCamps. Discounts for camp are also available dependent on hours worked.
COMMITMENT:
Looking for full day and/or partial day teaching artists; two-week commitment is required, preference for more than one session and/or the entire summer. Full day commitment is 9:00-4:30 daily. Partial day commitment is available upon discussion. Summer camps begin June 24th and conclude August 16th; Four 2-week sessions. Selected orientation is required the week prior to the beginning of camp; exact dates and times TBA.

THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As the Artist Illustrator 1, you will have the opportunity to create and design custom illustrations, graphics, and artwork for various signage projects within the Sign Shop. Within this role, collaboration with clients and colleagues to understand project requirements and develop concepts that align with their objectives will be essential. Your work will include using graphic design software and traditional illustration techniques to produce high-quality visuals. You will manage and maintain a library of digital assets, including vector illustrations and design templates and assist in the selection and procurement of art supplies and materials for projects. This position works closely with the Sign Shop team to ensure the timely completion of projects and adherence to quality standards.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of technical art experience in preparing illustrations or general display and exhibits work; and two years of formal training of fine arts or design. Appropriate art experience may be substituted for the required training on a year-for-year basis.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of technical art experience in preparing illustrations or general display and exhibits work; and two years of formal training of fine arts or design. Appropriate art experience may be substituted for the required training on a year-for-year basis.
