As a part of the Spruce Engineering team, you will help to build a cutting edge platform that will define the future of real estate transactions. In this role, your strong skills and knowledge in modern web platforms, frameworks, and techniques will be put to the test while we create new technology based efficiencies and engineer a transparent, fast transaction process that improves access to the largest source of capital most of us will ever have - real estate.

We are seeking talented backend software engineers to join the team, reporting to the Engineering Manager. Engineers on our team play a critical role in developing infrastructure, user-facing features, and backend services, as well as contributing to our team culture. As an Engineer, you'll be a technical leader and contributor to projects, delivering value throughout the product life cycle. You'll also bring your communication skills and unique background to help make ours a diverse, fun, caring and productive team.

What You'll Do
• Help build Spruce's user-facing (buyers, sellers, clients, lenders, internal operations) applications and business systems
• Collaborate using Agile methodologies with Design and Product teams to craft technical solutions to business problems

What We're Looking For
• 3+ years professional experience building server-side web applications with modern languages and frameworks
• Experience with Java and Spring (bonus points for Kotlin)
• Experience building single-page applications with modern JavaScript frameworks (React preferred)
• Familiarity with relational database systems and the structure of SQL queries
• Able to independently execute on software development projects, incorporating feedback and deepening your knowledge
• Eager to work in close collaboration with others, share knowledge, and learn from team mates. Able to effectively communicate with people across the organization

Compensation
• The anticipated annual compensation range for this position is $155,000 - $185,000. Stock options are typically a part of the total compensation package determined on a role-by-role basis. Your actual compensation may vary depending on your relevant skills and experience

• Manage the RFP response process for assigned RFPs, including proposal timeline and task management, coordination with SMEs, proofreading, formatting, and proposal production and submission
• Format proposals according to branding standards and contribute to appealing visuals
• Ensure that proposals are compliant with RFP requirements
• Help create, maintain and update proposal boilerplate

Requirements
• Degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Philosophy, or related Liberal Arts field requiring extensive writing and critical thinking skills
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
• Basic document design skills
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
• An ability to rapidly and independently learn and absorb information on a wide range of Information Technology subjects
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
• Ability to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines
• Ability to occasionally work outside of standard business hours
• Familiarity with the IT services industry preferred, but not required
• Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat preferred, but not required
