How ‘bout we skip right ahead to point? Our small business is located in Pensacola FL. We may be biased on coolest job— but we are pretty sure we are the coolest place to work for in Pensacola. Honestly, the job is not all roses and puppy dogs — there is some good news and there is some bad news...
Let’s get the bad news out of the way first:
• The starting pay sucks. Meaning, you won’t get rich at this job in the first month. The starting pay is $15/hour. It can be some extra spending money, for sure. However, if you are seeking a job to support a household then this is no longer the ”coolest” low voltage job ever, it is now the “suckiest” low voltage job ever.
• Review point 1. This is starting pay. If you have 25 years of experience, the pay will be different. Before you apply with 25 years of said experience, is it one year of experience done 25 times?
Scope of work:
CAT6 and CAT6a wire installs in new and old construction
HD IP Camera systems with smart features
TV mounting and connecting to everything from computers to x-ray systems
Office audio systems from 70v to SONOS.
Managed WiFi systems from office access points to bridging buildings together.
Networking and routing. VLANs, WAN, LAN, DHCP. We will teach you this and more.
IoT hardware and automation. To many items to list.
Using the best tools in the industry to get stuff done.
Now let’s talk about the good stuff:
• We work four days a week. We found that you can get more done in four days than five. Who doesn’t want a three day weekend ?? If you want to work more, we won’t stop you.
• The work is fun, fresh and dynamic. You will be learning new technology. This job is more than pulling wire. If all you want to do is pull wire, I’m sure there are plenty of electrical companies ready to welcome you. But, if you want to pull wire and advance in learning technology such as routing & networking, using best tools in the industry, Installing WiFi + bridge systems, HD IP camera systems, jumping into automation, using smart AI in said technologies, then you found the perfect job.
• We aren’t big on stress. So, while we will expect you to work efficiently and get things done, we focus on open communication and getting things done right the first go around. We all make mistakes. That is part of the learning process.
• Time off is important. Life happens. We expect you to show up on time on the days scheduled. This one thing will change your life. We also understand that things happen. You may have to pick up a sick kid from school, take a day off due to unexpected in-laws showing up or a zillion other thing that happen in life. This is a perk that we think all jobs should offer, but understand why it is difficult to do.
• You will experience things, do things, and make decisions on things that no big stuffy company would ever allow you to do.
• Yes, we are a small company with big perks! We covered the work life balance. We also offer a 401k with a 4% match. Who doesn’t like free money? More importantly, we want you to think about your future. You will never miss the 4% of your pay each week, that turns into 8% after the match. After 90 days, we will also give you $100/month towards an HSA account. More perks to come.
• After six months you get two weeks of paid vacation. Who does that? Why do other jobs make you wait years to get a break from work. A paid break??, Bonuses. . Hellz yeah, you read that right!!! We are a for profit business. You are a key part of this. To reward and share in the profits, we structure a bonus program. Why don’t we list that on the first line of job ad? Money isn’t everything. We can pay you 100K a year and you could still be broke. Speaking of, your goal should be to make a 100K a year. Be careful chasing the money, pursue happiness. No one at this office resents coming in. If you are not happy at your job, it’s time to switch.
• Experience is valuable no matter where it is from. We don’t expect you to have 25 years of pulling a cable. We can teach you that in one day. We value all experience and take this into account when reviewing your resume. Yep, we like to see resumes. If you can’t put in a few hours into a basic word document, why would we invest time and money into you? Harsh, maybe, but true. Like we said above, we want team members who put in the effort for a life changing job.
• You do have to climb ladders at times. Some of the work can be physical. We are not always in clime-controlled environment. But-all of our fleet vehicles have AC and we do offer unlimited water, Gatorade etc. on ice from our commercial ice maker we have in the office.10. Last. For us to offer you an interview, you will have to mention coffee in some response. Email or phone, Tell us you hate coffee or love it. It doesn’t matter and has no bearing other than showing us you read this complete job post. This is listed last to see if you read the complete job post. Yep, if you made it this far, you have exceeded 50% of the others competing with you for this awesome job.
The fine print -
Your own transportation is important. This will allow you to arrive on time without depending on others. Driving history. Our auto fleet is covered by commercial auto insurance. Your driving history directly effects our rates. Preparation. Ready to work at said time. Limited distractions. You can’t focus on the job when you are checking the latest feed on tik-tok or facebook all day. Attitude is everything, need not say more. Work T-shirts and polos are provided, you are expected to have clean work attire (blue jeans and shoes outlined in employee handbook.) Ideally, live 45 mins or less from the office. We have hired others in the past that considered a one-hour commute was fine until they sat in traffic. Even if you don’t apply for this job, look for jobs that reinvest into their greatest resource – their team!
