Under general supervision, incumbents in this classification work independently to provide a variety of specialized legal, technical, and administrative support services in the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office. Depending on the specific assignment, incumbents must research crime and suspect information; process a variety of records, logs, court documents and other paperwork; perform records management and public disclosure functions in a law enforcement setting; perform background investigations on public visitors, contract employees and volunteers; enter, validate, and correct information in various computer systems.

• Associate degree in Public Administration, Business, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. Additional experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
• Four (4) years progressively responsible experience with at least two (2) years previous lead or supervisory experience and budget management in roads engineering, construction, and maintenance. Previous experience in the areas of public administration, business writing, budget administration, public speaking, personnel and labor management is desired.
• Must have a valid Washington State Driver’s License, be able to obtain one within 30 days of employment or have an appropriate accommodation. A CDL is desirable.
• Ability to utilize a personal computer and related software packages to perform word processing, spreadsheets, analysis, information retrieval and tracking.

• Three years (3) experience in road maintenance, construction, traffic control maintenance, and heavy equipment operation. Previous experience providing instruction, training and scheduling assignments of others.
• Current Washington State Driver's License or have requested and obtained an appropriate accommodation.
• Must possess a Washington Traffic Flagging Card or obtain one within six (6) months of employment.
• Must hold a valid First Aid Card or obtain one within three (3) months of employment.
