Internal/External Job Description:

Join us as Composite Mechanic, and you’ll be looking at a career-defining role based in Los Angeles (CA), US and Greater Los Angeles area (San Bernardino, Riverside, Lancaster, and East Ventura). Note this position is Unionized and requires joining the Union organization.

This role is responsible for servicing, maintaining, inspecting, and repairing rail equipment. The role is also responsible for repairs, replace and tests machinery, components and systems related to rail equipment under direction of engineering or other staff by performing mechanical, electro-mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

· Reviews and understand project/activity request, safety instructions, blueprints, schematic and diagram to ascertain test specification, procedures, objectives, nature of technical activity and possible solutions such as disassemble and replace, adjust or repair regarding the maintenance functions of both the locomotive and car equipment.

· Dismantle, assemble and replace new or modified mechanical components or assemblies for products such as HVAC, brake, pneumatic system, propulsion equipment, truck and car body equipment and sub-system for trains so equipment can pass inspections.

· Analyze sub-system in order to meet design or rated specifications and modifies or adjusts equipment to meet specifications in a timely fashion to meet customer train availability schedule and/or overhaul schedule.

· Records on appropriate report card or data sheet the activity performed by indicating all relevant information pertaining to the activity. Performs quality test and verification to insure safe performance of sub-assembly or component in order to properly report to the customer, governing agencies or for internal auditing purposes.

· Unplugging, cleaning and repairing toilets. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor based on train availability or repair schedule. Follows all Bombardier security and safety instructions or procedures in order to prevent any personal injuries and maintain a safe fleet that will meet the demands of a reliable commuter service.

· May be required to train and qualify as a class four train operator in order to move rail equipment within the yard limits. May be required to train and qualify for use of wheel truing machine.

· Additional tasks as assigned

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

This position is responsible for ensuring a safe, comfortable and pleasant journey to our coach and sleeping car passengers. The Train Attendant can work either coach or sleeping cars. Coach Attendants will be required to keep assigned coaches clean for the duration of the trip, including maintenance of all restrooms. Sleeping Car Attendants will be required to offer passengers all first-class amenities, make beds, change linen and keep the restroom and shower area clean and sanitary for the duration of the trip. Must be willing to give special assistance to elderly and disabled passengers who are boarding and detraining. Will be responsible for assisting passengers who are boarding/detraining, including assistance with baggage.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• This position will be responsible for performing dining car service and side work as directed by the Lead Service Attendant by providing a quality dining car experience for passengers in a safe, efficient and professional manner.
• Must load/unload supplies and maintain an inventory of supplies
• Must be available to work flexible schedules that include weekends and holidays.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Food and beverage handling experience.
• Cash handling and customer contact experience.
• Experience in housekeeping.
• Must be at least 21 years of age upon completion of classroom training (due to service of alcoholic beverages).

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The Road Foreman manages engine and train service crews to ensure the safe and efficient operation of locomotives and trains in specific areas. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Responsibilities include providing leadership, mentoring and guidance to engineers. 
• Oversee operation in coordination with the road trainmaster in compliance with rules and regulations.
• Ensures bulletins, equipment, postings, etc. adhere to labor, federal and Amtrak regulations
• Monitor employees for compliance with policies and operating practices. 
• Initiate action for non-compliance in consistent and fair manner.
• Manage employees and train operations to optimize OTP and make recommendations to improve performance,
• Respond to service disruptions within area of responsibility.
• Implement safety plans.
• Provide written & oral reports
• Interview, select & manage new-hire locomotive engineers
• Manage and  oversee locomotive engineer certification requirements
• Administer engineer recertification courses and operating rules classes,
• Conduct efficiency tests, ensure compliance and maintain employee records.
• Ensure engine crews attend training classes, documenting and reporting training; communicate with carrier railroad managers regarding territory operations.
• Manage crew base budget for locomotive engineers. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Certified class I train service engineer. Minimum of 2 years operating experience, with no violations described in CFR 49 part 240.117, as train service engineer and/or as road foreman.
• Qualified as a designated supervisor of locomotive engineers. Qualified on physical characteristics of territory. Demonstrated business and financial management experience. 
• Must have a valid CA Drivers License within 30 days obtained after hired for the job.
• Prior satisfactory work experience in train or passenger service.
• Five years experience as a train service crew member or Train Director/Dispatcher.
• Five years experience as Locomotive Engineer.
• Demonstrated business and financial management experience
• Qualified on physical characteristics of territory. 
• Demonstrated knowledge of CFR 49 requirements and labor contracts (BLE, UTU and TCU).  
• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills. 
• Working knowledge of Amtrak policies and procedures.
• Demonstrated skills using Microsoft software; Excel, Word, PowerPoint

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Five years supervisory experience, leading and managing others with different levels of expertise
• Five years experience with train operation, crew base, crew management, operations, train handling and service delivery

• Bachelor’s degree in transportation, business or related field or equivalent work experience, training, and/or education.

The salary/hourly range for Road Foreman I is $115,000 - $135,000.The salary/hourly range for Road Foreman II is $125,000 - $148,500. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation. SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Responsible for cleaning the interior and exterior of train equipment in accordance with FDA and Amtrak Standards and guidelines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Perform cleaning assignments for train cars in accordance with FDA and Amtrak standards and guidelines

• Vacuum, mop, dust, sweep, wash walls and windows

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Protects and safeguards company assets and resources including personnel, property and customer’s property entrusted to the company.
