Duties

The major duties of the position are:
• Manages administrative operations and tasks.
• Provides records management, time and attendance, and travel management support for the Office of the Executive Director.
• Serves as a Government Purchase Card holder.
• Coordinates and executes administrative activities in support of meetings and conferences.

Job requirements as a Recent Graduate: Sign a participant agreement, mentorship throughout the program, and at least 40 hours of formal training.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position applicants must meet the qualifications described below.
• Specialized Experience:Applicants must have at least one year of full-time specialized work experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the next lower level, GS-05, in the federal government. Specialized experience is defined as: (1) providing assistance in calendar scheduling, coordinating logistics for meetings, or handling inquiries directed to an organization's management, (2) performing various administrative support tasks such as file/records management, travel assistance, time and attendance, or performing data entry and/or managing information entered into various automated databases or systems, and (3) drafting written materials for review by senior staff such as correspondence, memos, reports, and/or meeting agendas. OR
• Education: Completion of one full year of graduate level education. OR
• Superior Academic Achievement: Completion of a bachelor's degree AND meet the Superior Academic Achievement provision (S.A.A.) criteria (visit the site for more detailed information). S.A.A. is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership. OR
• Combination of Education and Experience: Have a combination of qualifying education and experience. (Divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify under the combination of education and experience.)
• Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Education

Foreign Education. If you are using education completed at foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in the interpretation of foreign education programs. Foreign education must be deemed equivalent to that gained at an accredited U.S. education program. Additional information

The Pathways Recent Graduates program is a one-year Excepted Service appointment. Upon completion of the one year, Recent Graduates may be noncompetitively converted to a term or permanent position in the competitive service. However, conversion is NOT guaranteed. The full performance level of the position to which converted may be up to the GS-9 level.

To be eligible for conversion, Recent Graduates must have: Successfully completed at least 1-year of continuous service in addition to all requirements of the Program, demonstrated successful job performance, and meet the qualifications for the position to which the Recent Graduate will be converted.
