Purpose

The Bachelor of Education Program, within the Education Department of Tyndale University, prepares graduates to apply for an Ontario Teaching Certificate through the OCT; to demonstrate knowledge and skill in Ontario’s curricular areas in the Primary, Junior and Intermediate divisions; to link theory and practice; to engage the diversity of learners in today’s classrooms through differentiated instruction, awareness of culturally responsive and inclusive pedagogy; to cultivate engaging and equitable learning... environments in which students’ intellectual, emotional, social, physical, and spiritual well-being are nurtured; and to deepen their understanding of their own beliefs, values, and knowledge and how those beliefs directly influence professional practice.

The successful candidate will be appointed, dependent on requisite experience, qualifications, and status to a Faculty rank ranging from Assistant to Full Professor. They will serve on the Bachelor of Education Core faculty team, and engage in teaching, research, and service. The appointment will commence on July 1, 2024, or shortly thereafter. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching with a strong portfolio in one or more of the following areas: language and literacy curriculum and pedagogy, equity, diversity and inclusion in the classroom, French as a second language pedagogy, educational psychology.

Responsibilities

Teaching
• Teach 6 courses per year at the post-baccalaureate level in the Education Department
• Develop research-based syllabi that reflect rigorous, current, practical and theoretical learning for teacher candidates entering the profession
• Model and provide opportunities for teacher candidates to consider their own personal beliefs—beliefs about students, learning, faith, and morals, and to reflect on how those beliefs shape us, and can positively impact learners of different abilities, socio-economic status, race, language, faith, culture, gender, and sexual orientation

Research & Scholarship

Engage in research, writing and publishing in the field of education

Service
• Participate fully in the academic and community life of the university, including assigned committee work within the department and across the institution
• Participate in the faith life of a local church.

Qualifications
• Terminal degree in the field of education
• 10+ years of experience teaching full-time in K-12 schools in Ontario
• Experience as a teacher-leader, instructional coach, or administrator in Ontario schools
• Experience designing and teaching courses for in-service and pre-service teachers
• Affirmation and alignment with Tyndale’s Statement of Faith and Community Standards

Salary Range

$78,336 to $89,790

Position Purpose

The position of Student Admissions Representative (SAR) exists in order to improve the effectiveness of recruiting new students by providing exceptional customer service and completing administrative duties that support the efforts of the Tyndale UniversityAdmissions Office.

Primary Responsibilities

Assist the Admissions Office in recruitment of new students by:
• Positively representing Tyndale in a professional manner at all times
• Calling prospective Tyndale students to answer their questions and... encourage them to apply
• Responding to emails sent and inquiries submitted by prospective students
• Entering student information into the Admissions Office’s database and CRM
• Preparing all mail to be sent out including acceptance packages and inquiry letters

Support The Work Of Admissions Counsellors By
• Checking in with assigned Admissions Counsellor at the beginning of each shift to see if there are tasks to be completed
• Communicating with students within a geographic region with direction from the Admissions Counsellor
• Partaking in special projects the Admissions Counsellor requests

Provide Support To The Admissions Visit Program By
• Assisting the Admissions Coordinator with planning, preparation, and staffing of Admissions events
• Conducting tours of Tyndale’s campus

Position Qualifications

Education
• Post-secondary education; completed or in process
• Must be a current Tyndale student

Experience

Customer service experience an asset

• Demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer service
• Excellent communication skills, able to relate to prospective students and encourage their attendance at Tyndale
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Organization and data-entry skills
• Must have the ability to learn and use a student contact database and CRM
