As a Senior Core Engineer, you'll be... working deep in the Snowdrop engine, working to design, create, and extend the underlying general and platform-specific systems which bring our games to life. You'll be adding functionality and features, improving performance, and expanding the Snowdrop engine's capabilities. Your contributions will empower the content developers and our target platforms to shine. You will work on a small collaboration-oriented team where you will have the opportunity to contribute in meaningful ways.
You'll also be part of the diverse Ubisoft San Francisco team. WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Implement system-level and gameplay-supporting systems
• Optimize game code and systems
• Mentor less experienced engineers
• Collaborate with technology director/architect on technical design and feature roll out
• Work with game teams and other engineers to identify systems in need of maintenance, optimization, or refactoring
• Coordinate with other developers to ensure smooth roll out of new features
• Review the work of other engineers and provide mentorship
• Create and maintain technical design documents

WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Design Snowdrop engine improvements and extensions
• Implement system-level and gameplay-supporting systems
• Optimize game code and systems
• Collaborate with Lead Core Engineer on technical design and feature roll out
• Work with content teams and other engineers to identify systems in need of maintenance, optimization, or refactoring
• Coordinate with other developers to ensure smooth roll out of new features
• Review the work of other engineers and provide mentorship
• Create and maintain technical design documents
• Mentor more junior engineers
Qualifications
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
• C/C++ experience with understanding of multi-threaded programming techniques
• Understanding of low-level optimizations and core subsystems, memory management, cross-platform development
• Experience building games as an engineer for PlayStation, Xbox, or PC
• Ability to be self-directed, focused, and detail-oriented
• Experience with technical requirement certification (Sony, Microsoft, etc.)

If you are passionate about games and game development, can iterate and refine your work rapidly, and actively participate in creating AAA quality games this may be the job for you!
Responsibilities...
• Design & create static and animated user interfaces for video games with VR experience highly desired
• Produce UI’s and menus that are intuitive, easy to navigate, convey information to maximize the end-user experience, and immerse the player in the VR world
• Create conceptual wireframes, user flow diagrams, and high-fidelity prototypes to solidify design direction and plans.
• Flexible with adoption of art styles and direction, able to take critique constructively.
• Be self-directed; work independently and collaboratively with team members to solve challenges.
• Communicate and collaborate with all members of the team to create a friendly and efficient work environment.
• Identify priorities and gaps in current designs, and contribute/iterate creative solutions
• Be diligent and ensure quality of work in a fast paced, team based highly iterative development environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Strong graphic design background.
• Unity experience highly preferred.
• Relevant undergraduate degree and/or equivalent experience preferred.
• Able to conceptualize, present and execute ideas within a tight schedule.
• Contributed to the UI design implemented/shipped in at least 1 major AAA or VR game
• Extensive knowledge of 2D image applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, After Effects) required knowledge of 3d applications (3ds Max).
• Experience in designing localized SKUs.
• Strong artistic, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Extensive knowledge of UI in games across multiple genres on all platforms.
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to interact with team members of different disciplines.
• Willingness to respond to and adapt to artistic feedback.
• Deep passion for games as a craft.
• Good positive attitude and outlook.
