Under supervision of the Administrative Nurse, guided by policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Services, and in collaboration with the Clinical Nursing Staff, the Hospital Assistant III (Medical Assistant) assists in the delivery of care to patients in multiple Cancer Center ambulatory group practices. This position supports the Cancer Services and Ambulatory Services and Infusion Unit. Work includes a variety of personal care and nursing procedures including assuring positive care outcomes. They will perform assigned patient care and laboratory procedures in support of the specialty care services provided to patients within the practices. They are required to learn and be able to assist in all Cancer Center specialty practices. They are required to adhere to the Telephone and House Standards as adopted by the Medical Center. This position requires the flexibility to work evenings, weekends and Holidays.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Required Qualifications

The unit focuses on cutting edge pain management modalities, evidence-based post-surgical interventions and advanced surgical interventions.

Nurses support their patients with an interdisciplinary approach. The dynamic patient care team consists of surgeons, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, pharmacists, dietitians, case managers and social workers.

Required Qualifications
• One year of recent RN clinical experience (within the past 2 years) in a medical surgical acute care unit
• Active licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
• Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED

Two years of experience as a medical assistant.
